It takes so many things to do this, besides wood and tools. It takes patience and confidence that you can do it in order to be able to relax and invest the time and effort, knowing that you will probably have some degree of success. Plus it takes skill and experience on those saws. Plus know how and design. It is overwhelming how difficult it is to do something like this even though it looks relatively easy on video when someone else is doing it. It takes some talent. I think it is really cool that people can build things like this or guitars and post their build process on youtube. It is pretty cool. I have learned so much over the years. I hope to build something like that now that I have a band saw and a scroll saw.

If you were to use a 1/4" wide band saw blade with coarse teeth it would cut you radii much better than the wide one you are using. Adjust you roller behind the band saw blade to support the blade while cutting, which would prevent it from moving back and forth while cutting. Slow your wood cutting drill bits down, you do not have to run the very fast at all to cut good. keep them sharp and prevent burning them. Never ever use calipers while the machine is running always STOP THE LATHE to take a measurement. the calipers could grab and be thrown out of the machine hitting you or destroying your calipers! This is a must! For you safety and the tools! Your car is very nice!

Nice design, excellent craftmanship. BUT: 1- Wrong blade on bandsaw. 2- Wrong band saw setup (blade flexes too much) 3- You lean too much on the wood (hence the blade) 4- Dangerous working method. (Slice-finger-off hazard) Otherwise, it was fun to watch you in action. Keep it up. :)

Thank you very much! Yeah you got me with the wrong blade there :D some time before working on this project i broke my 6mm blade and wasn't able to buy a replacement. And there isn't really an excuse for working dangerously... I haven't really noticed it that much before watching the footage of myself working :) Definitely gonna have to update my methods!

Очень интересное исполнение и задумка, все красиво, но почему же не используешь свои станки на полную даже ту же шлефовку, делаешь это руками. И прикупи даже простой фрезер, будет намного красивее с обработанными краями

Please do not use that bandsaw until you learn how to adjust the guides (top & bottom back and sides) and understand how to adjust the tension! If you continue using the machine this way you will lose fingers! There are many "how to" videos on You Tube - watch a few of them and compare what is being taught.

You need to adjust your bandsaw and more important, you need to use a coping saw for the close-up cuts; otherwise, you will be missing some fingers.

I hope by now you have improved your work habits enough to keep your fingers. No doubt you have also learned how to setup a bandsaw. Checkout Snodgrass video. My wife & I made wooden toys for a living for 9 years, Skinny living! Mostly cut from 8/4 hard maple using 3/16" bandsaw blades. Design to suit your means of sanding. Hand sanding sucks!

İşçiliğin çok güzel. Ama bazı yerlerde kıl testere kullanabilirdin. Şu şerit testere beni öldürdü. Şerit Testerenin bıçağını değiştir ve ayarını iyi yap. Herşey güzel. Sen çok iyi bir usta olacaksın. Türkiyeden selamlar. Kolay gelsin.

Your video technique is quite good; narration would have been good. Your bandsaw back blade guide bearing is set wrong; it should only be about the thickness of a business card. away from the back of the blade. You really need a 6mm 6tpi blade for this kind of work but it can be done with the blade you have installed but requires quite a few relief cuts to do the job. I would buy a roll of double sided tape for cutting out 2 identical sides, simple to use and no nail holes. I would also use a hole saw to cut out your wheels as turning them on the lathe means you are looking at end grain instead of long grain. Using a hole saw to cut out the wheels automatically gives you a centre hole on your wheel so they will be perfectly round. Another little tip is to apply the finish with a brush and then wipe off the excess; not so messy. Overall you have done a decent enough job but please adjust your bandsaw upper guide assembly and make a simple jig to cut those thin pieces; much safer. Well done and a very good first attempt making a video.

for safety sake you should NEVER check your work diameters with the lathe running. if your calipers catch you could lose your fingers or hand. always turn off the machine!
