I am impressed with the Sherline. I have a much larger lathe that has difficulty with those chrome steel hard shafts. I consequently have started using water hardening drill rod, and hardening the work after turning. Of course it helps to have a master machinist using the machine!

I must confess that I make some "miracles" with my Sheline machines. But this is possible due a many modifications that I made on them. As soon as possible I will post many informations about these modifications. Regards Luiz

Bom dia Luiz, Estas microferramentas que vc mesmo faz, vc utiliza o metal duro? Widea, etc?? porque vejo que em todas operações, inclusive com as brocas, vc utiliza uma rotação acima do normal, e fiquei surpreso que mesmo assim elas resistem bem ao corte

+Jair Martins Filho Bom dia Jair, isso mesmo, uso sempre metal duro de alta qualidade e rotação elevada, na média de 1000 a 2800 RPM, de certa forma como sempre trabalho com peças pequenas as rotações são altas, na fresadora hoje uso em média de 5 a 10 mil RPM pra brocas e fresas de baixo diâmetro, funciona bem com ótimos resultados.
