Making a Custom Viking Cloak

I am getting fairly close to being finished with my Viking Link cosplay mashup and thought as the days are getting colder I need something to keep my Hylian raider warm. In this build I do some simple modifications to a basic cloak and bring it into both worlds. For this build I used: 1 black cloak, faux fur, heat transfer vinyl, magnets, waxed thread, metal grommets and thin eva foam. You may also need the following tools: a vinyl cutter, needle, clothing iron, vinyl weeding tools, and Exacto knife or box cutter. I recommend getting a heat press, I used one when I was in school making vinyls and it works really good, you turn in on set the temp then let it heat up then when it's ready position the vinyl correctly on what you want to put it on then pull down on the lever until it locks down when it's done it will beep then you pull it up, and depending if your doing something long like this you could move the vinyl and clothing down then repeat, once it's done you jest peel the transfer paper off and it should be adhered to the fabric. You just can't use cotton though.

I've thought about it before but I have been hesitant as I don't use heat transfer vinyl that often and I have limited space. The iron takes a little more time and finese but also irons my clothes 😄

Very cool, Thomas! I can tell that took a lot more work than you showed on the video. I've done complicated vinyl design work similar and it takes forever.... And heat setting that stuff? Fuggedaboudit! But it came out amazing. I'd be very proud if that was mine, for sure. The one cool thing about cosplay is no matter how or why it's made, if you are proud of it and think it looks cool, then it becomes canon.

Thanks so much. A lot of people see a 15 minute video and think that's how long it took. I love the process and learning new skills. After I was done, I put it on the manikin with the viking armor on it and started to get excited about the end result. Just wait til you see the battle horn I am working on.

To buy one it sure would have been. Just the fur lined collar cloaks are around 300. All the details would easily put it around 400 or 500. I spent about $65.

Do you have a link for the clasp?

Do you mean a pattern? Other than the outer rings, it was sculpted. So, no, I don't have a pattern. The rings with the symbols can be found in a Google search. If you mean a link to sell these, I didn't make a bunch of copies as it was kind of specific to my mash up.
