I just finished making this dress form a few weeks ago. It has already been very helpful in getting my pants pattern altered to closer to my measurements, and I was able to do that from the tissue copy I made of my pattern without wasting my fabric in a mock-up. Now I’m making the mock-up hoping to have a wearable mock-up and any final alterations once I’m wearing it. So happy already.

Hi. I just recently discovered this pattern and have been debating about buying it. The video is very clear and easy to follow. Just one question, what the kind of fabric you used for the interlining pieces? I'm asking because I'm from Portugal so I need to translate the kind of fabric and I don't know what interlining is. Thank you.
@Ninonella4 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! About your question - in the instruction it says that interlining fabric should be "rigid, non-elastic, heavy (bottom) weight, but not too thick (i.e. denim fabric, polyester fabric for bags or tents)." So basically any non-stretch not very thick fabric will work.
@ellieisbusy4 жыл бұрын
The word you’re looking for is “entretela.” Any lightweight to medium weight (iron-on would be perfect) will work :)

Thanks so much for posting this. I’ve been on the fence about getting this for some time, and I think I’ll wait until I can get my mom or sister to help me check my measurements as I’m a bit difficult to fit and I want to make sure it’s accurate. But this video made a lot of sense out of the pieces I received in the small sample. I couldn’t figure out how to make them go together. Did you do any of the adjustments on the second page? Or just the basic measurements?
@Ninonella4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you liked it! Yes, I've done all of them including second page, since I wanted the dress form to look as close to me as possible. Don't know if it's made a difference or not 😅
@merindymorgenson31844 жыл бұрын
Ninonella that’s good to know. When we get back somewhere where I have help to measure myself, I think I’ll go for this. I can try clothes on the kids as I’m making them, and make adjustments as I go by pinning or marking changes. It’s much more difficult to pin and mark the changes on one’s self. Since I’m not super good at sewing yet anyway, I usually have to make lots of adjustments, so I think this would be helpful. I’ve never had good luck having store bought clothes fit me, either because I was so skinny as a younger woman, or now, the opposite post babies. I’d really just like to have a few clothes that fit well and don’t bag, bunch, pinch, or pull. I think this could help with that.

I just finished making mine last night! I think I need to make some adjustments because I couldn't stuff it firmly without it getting too large in places. Did you adjust the scale of the pattern when you printed it to make a half size model?
@Ninonella4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I just printed four pages on A4 page, and it seems to do the trick. As for your dress form - did you use an interfacing for your main fabric?
@JenniferGallion4 жыл бұрын
@@Ninonella Yes, but it was relatively thin iron on interfacing. I used a thinner home dec fabric for the dress form itself. Thanks for the video!
@arkroogs904 жыл бұрын
I had this same issue. It was 2 inches too big in places! I took it in, but it's still not quite right. I used iron-on interfacing and a sturdy twill fabric. Maybe the twill stretches too much on the bias still. I think if I were to do it again, I would enter in my measurements an inch or two smaller than they are.
@JenniferGallion4 жыл бұрын
@@arkroogs90 I feel better that it wasn't just me! I used a pretty sturdy home dec fabric that didn't have much of a stretch to it. Maybe I just measured myself incorrectly. I also got the arm pattern and made that last night; it was 3" too large in the forearm! It was too large at the wrist, but I chalk that up to not sewing exactly on the seam lines, as it was hard to manipulate that under my machine, and the seams aren't accurate. But the forearm was huge. I have to remake the arm entirely. The elbow was about an 1" too large.

@Ninonella4 жыл бұрын
Yay! It's much easier to do, and you don't have to cover yourself with duct tape :)
@Mrsmuffin19583 жыл бұрын
I've had 2 duct tape dress forms made with my late husband's assistance. The first one represented the way he WISHED I looked (bust too high, waist too tight.) The second one was made when I was much heavier. While it was accurate and useful, it's large and bulky, and took about 2 hours of standing still, no toileting, just standing and turning around. It was exhausting to me when it was made a number of years ago. With declining health, mobility, and bladder control, I wouldn't ever consider going through THAT process again! And my dear, helpful husband has passed away this spring, leading me to lose nearly 30 lbs. So I really need an accurate dress form as I'm trying to make a well-fitting wardrobe to fit my new size and shape. My main comment is that the duct tape dress form isn't easy to make, and a sewn one to your measurements sounds like the way to go!
