I was meant to add bit more info talking about the snare circuit in this video but somehow between bouncing and uploading I managed to lose 30 seconds of talking about the function of the circuit, I have no idea what happened I do apologise! I will be doing a recap video when this project is done on the look mum channel and I will make sure to include it. Rewatchable build stream of the sequencer from last night! :- www.patreon.com/posts/builders-flip-48382006 Stripboard Layout :- www.lookmumnocomputer.com/projects#/rhythm-generator I will attempt to fill in what was said in the weirdly missing part on the description! The trigger is received from the sequencer chip it goes into the first transistor which causes an opening decay, this is mixed with the noise circuit which then travels to the base of the second transistor which opens up and the resulting noise sound is filtered, its super simple. I filmed this whole video as a livestream last week! here it is :- www.patreon.com/posts/museum-noise-feb-47945598

Analog drums are fascinating! It would be cool to have the mixing of the drum parts patchable should this become a module. That way you can mix the hi or the low bongo with the noise, or other wonkey combos! Sounds very clean, cute and charming!

The Thomas Band Box is the coolest tightest drum sounds when pushed into some distortion through my PA and I jam the organ to it. The Band Box was actually Grandmaster Flash's "secret weapon". You can see him playing it in an old video. The Thomas Playmate was the sequencer " programmed beats part of the system. Some organ just had the " any Key UPPER"/ any bass pedal LOWER triggers for the Band Box (drum sounds, plus manual buttons). Either way it was always the same Band Box whether with or without a playmate.

I really do like the CR-78/808 feel it has got, always loved tinny popcorn drums... Once the sound modules are finished a step sequencer will complete it. After that, expand it into a Eurorack unit, with the capacity to edit the sounds, and *sell that monster to the masses!*

Those drums sounded really great! The lower tone drums reminded me of my grandma's electronic organ, esp. in sequence, made by GEM probably in the 70s or early 80s (it had different rhythm presets like Polka, Waltz..), I've been thinking of recovering that organ and thanks for the video!

I had the entire PE collection from 1973 through to the late 80's(?). It all started because they were publishing a synth (yes, THAT one). The Ingenuity Unlimited section was great for ideas, but quite a few didn't work - so: good for learning skills. I ended up dumping all the mags in a house move and probably will regret it forever. I do remember that front cover, but never was interested enough to have a go at it. Great channel(s). Oh btw, WHERE did you get the Lego Breadboard wotsit? Love that!

The 4.7k resistor in parallel with the 100mH inductor in the noise circuit section. In the magazine, in one figure the resistor isnt shown, in the circuit diagram it is. Is it needed or not. I've been trying to recreate this circuit too but can't get the white noise to come through when triggered. I've used 2n3904 transistors instead of bc108b (waiting for delivery) is transistor choice key to this circuit? What is the trigger spike duration? 5volt 1 msec? I'd.like to get a working version for myself too

I never knew about stripboard until a few years ago, and I've been dabbling with electronics since the mid-70s. It's apparently been common in UK projects since forever, but almost unknown the US. I used more than a few of the breadboard layout boards though, and plenty of donuts-only boards. But now if you can wait two weeks, you get some nice boards from JLPCB. I made some boards with LEDs and SMT transistors and a pin header that plugs into a breadboard, because I got tired of making that circuit by hand.
