Well done. I'm a model railroader and see so many model builders talk about using arduinos to automate you model railway layout - convinced me to try a kit. Having watched your youtube I may have given a little more thought to the Original - but at twice the price maybe not. I had already ordered the Elegoo Kit (I went for the Mega - for a few bucks more). Don't know if I'll try going through the lessons to learn Arduino programs and how to's, or if I'll just build the model railway projects I want. They are well explained in multiple websites and youtubes. And this "kid" is learning to play in my second childhood in my retired senior years, but I have grandkids who might want to play with Papa's new toys.

Voice over or written text explaining the process, type of end mill used for roughing cut and finishing cut, or anything else would help with the instructional part for those learning to use a CNC.

Yeah, I wasn’t intending on that with this video. It’s an old one too.

if you just cover the whole thing with blue painter's tape after painting white only the letters will be exposed by the cutting and you can stain then peal the tape and not have to do all of that clean up
@americansouthdesigns4 жыл бұрын
I normally would use oramask to do that. I do it this way on certain signs, for a reason. I lightly sand before staining, revealing wood in some areas, when I stain, it gives those areas an aged look, including the bright white paint. The mineral spirits just helps speed up the excess removal.

What modifications fir you do to xcarve? Do you like it or would you save and pay more for something else

I liked it a lot, but I did sell it. I have a CNC4NEWBIE New Carve 4545 now. I’m still assembling it

Great job. What's the small yellow tool you're using to knock down the edges?
@americansouthdesigns4 жыл бұрын
It’s a small sanding pad that I got from Lowe’s. It comes with a bunch of sanding strips of various grits.

Thanks! I used some scrap pine plywood I had leftover from another project. I used an Amana Tools 60 degree V-bit with the Spektra Coating for this. It's my go-to bit on many of my carves. Link is in the description, and below if you want to check it out on Amazon. amzn.to/2QlKPkO

Jeremiah Langston oh yeah. On these signs I stain the whole board to get stain on the distressed areas. It’s hard to see in the video, but where I sand the sign, there are small pieces of the wood that show through. The stain highlights those areas to give it distressed look.
