Hello Xavier I have some cuttings that are ready to be put in pots. I have one Ficus root over Rock but I don't like the way it turned out. I tried doing it without securing the roots to the Rock with string. So this time I will try it like that thanks for sharing
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat2 жыл бұрын
Please let me know how they get on Matthew. Cheers Xav.

Nice work Xavier. I’ve created several ficus root over rock and am always amazed at how readily they cooperate and cling to the rock. Yours is certainly set up nicely for the future. Thanks, keep growing
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that Matt - I will definitely be interested in how quickly these roots develop and cling to the rock.

You're just growing olives to go into your Dirty Martini and the Quince for your infused Gin 🙄. Someone gave me a Tiger Bark Ficus, I feel inspired to put that over a Norwegian Rock I got from a recent busman's holiday I took. Tony has a good idea using bandages instead of raffia. Cheers Xav
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat2 жыл бұрын
If drink is involved then it is always a promising start. As for what you use - anything that keeps that root close to the rock. Cling film seems to be one of the most readily available and cheapest options. Busmans holiday...???
@JackC19612 жыл бұрын
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Yes anything to hold them in place, good point. Busman's Holiday, going on a cruise, sea time . . Again 😳🫡 refers to a bus driver going on a coach trip.

Hi Xavier, would you mind sending the next jade to Austria, instead of throwing it away? Thx sharing your ideas about root on the rocks. Chers, Martina

Thanks for this video Xav. You've made root on rock look so easy. I'm still struggling with 'Whisky on the rocks' but I've got 3 Ficus cuttings that should be old enough to have a go with next year. I'll have to go beachcombing. Stay safe. 👍👍

Thanks Guy - it is easy...it just requires a bit of time and patience. :)

Cracking video mate. Those olives are great. Greek salad on the menu! It will be great seeing these root over rocks develop. I've got some interesting root-over-rock projects planned for next spring myself.
