See the 3 links (below the "show more" prompt. It will show you the necessary dimensions of the one piece "extrusion" followed by the cuts/assembly required for the 3 sides.

This is great. Do you remember the web site that shows how to fold a 3x5 flag to fit in burial flag case, the size you made in this demonstration?

That is a very nice flag case Bob. Question: Is there a reason why you did not cut the sides to rough length before routing the inside faces? I should think it would make them easier to handle. Also why no groove to trap the glass? Thank you for sharing Bob. This was very informative.

We made some of these prior to the class and ran the full boards on the router table. We decided to just show the individual sides during the class to save time.

The "extrusion" was left in one piece (75" long) to facilitate finishing inside and out. In this form, you can easily get to all the flat surfaces and make sure you are applying the same pressure in the sanding process. The continuous length also insures the spray equipment used is depositing a consistent coat for all the parts involved. When it is cut apart, you then have fresh, raw wood for PVA glue. When you create a groove to contain the glass and assemble the case with glass in it, your glass is irreplaceable if it should break. The flange allows for placement AND replacement of the glass. It can be held in with daubs of clear caulk or adhesive backed weather stripping.
