You two are my favorite bladesmith's! I can't believe y'all are teaming up! You both have inspired me to start making knives. @Alec Steele, you have helped me understand the art of Blacksmithing while @simple little life, you have taught better grinding techniques. I would love to make you both a knife and send it to y'all! just let me know if you are up for it!
@Simplelittlelife7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! I think it would be really cool if you wanted to make me a knife but I certainly don't want you to feel like you have too. Just hearing that somehow you've benifited from what I've shared mean so much!👍

Simple Little Life i would love to make you a knife. I haven't made many but does a gut hook sound good? It is one of my better knives that i make. If you could email me at georgiamoviemakeup@gmail.com i would love to send one your way

I love the way the maker channels are all bouncing off each other and building each other up rather than competing. I've seen Alec work with Samurai Carpenter and now you, I've seen Laura Kampf work with Adam Savage and Jimmy Diresta - this is just the best and I cannot overstate how much I love it.

It is a pretty rad community, isn't it? I've thought about that too and I'm not sure if there are other "groups" that have that dynamic but it is such a great community to be a part of. Cheers!

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it! I've made over 200 knives and even after 1000 more I still don't think I could consider myself an expert. Always something, something new to learn. And that's what makes it so excited! Just fun to share what little knowledge I have in hopes that it might benefit someone else. And thanks again for subscribing! Cheers👍

Awsome job dude! I have just come over from Alec Steele and I'm really glad I did. Watching you draw the blade shape in the 1st video for this series I was gobsmacked, I have just spent about a year trying to find a folder with exactly that blade. I finally found one a couple of weeks ago on a chinese site, it has a 74mm (3") D2 blade and interesting for a friction folder style it has a liner lock, $19 so it was a steal. Not as chunky as your one though, that thing looks as though it will survive almost anything. I know you are using G10 scraps for the scales but the red and green look great. I just subbed, looking forward to more of your work and entertaining style.

Jeremy, nice team up with Alec! When making folders, I find it best to drill my holes under-sized, then ream them for a precise fit. If you want to make a frame lock, I suggest watching Mike Stewart's (Ekim Knives) excellent 15 part series on frame locks. He cover pretty much every aspect of designing and building them.

For taps in wood I run some thin CA after tapping the hole and then run the tap through again to clean them up. That should strengthen them a little.

If those threads give you trouble, just hit them with some "thin CA" glue and re-tap. That basically re-bonds the fibers of the material and makes stronger threads.
