I’m a 30+ year career portraitist, and have a fun tip. If you want to paint a portrait that seemingly tracks you with its eyes, just paint a minimum of seven layers on the eyes alone, above and beyond the layers of the rest of the painting. The extra thickness makes them “look” at you from all sides of the room…not to this dramatic effect, but it’s pretty effective.
@junewinship929829 күн бұрын
I'm a painter and now i desperately wanna try this trick! I mostly work in acrylic and watercolor though. would you say it has to be oil to get the correct amount of transparency and luminosity? or do you think acrylic mixed with a glazing medium to add a bit of transparency might be enough to get the same effect?
@brightpurpleviking28 күн бұрын
@@junewinship9298 acrylics with glazing medium might work! I’ve only done it with oils. If you try it I would love to hear how it works for you. Cheers to a fellow artist! 🥂

As an artist myself of many years, everything you create and plan is creative genius. The frame alone was so stunning--I may give that a go because I owned a gallery and framing was a lot of what I did yet, I never tried making frames (way to busy and no time). This frame and project though, is on a whole other level of creativity. Where the painting was placed is perfection! I think 100 years from now, and there are new owners of your home, it certainly would be fun to hear the comments, but I suspect you will be there in spirit to hear them yourself! 😉❤
