Making a Himalayan Crocodile Leather Card Holder (Free PDF Pattern)

Himalayan crocodile leather for your pocket...
In this video I make a card holder using Himalayan crocodile leather. To keep the card holder thin, I used a thin calfskin leather lining for the inside of the pockets. The card holder design pattern uses overlapping pockets, with six card pockets and one hidden pocket for cash.
Materials Used:
Himalayan crocodile leather
Calfskin leather finished like Shell Cordovan
Fil Au Chinois Lin Cable 432 linen thread (0.63mm)
Vernis edge paint
Paraffin wax/beeswax mix
Leathercraft cement

@@Henri_Hilarious I got mine from a tannery in Thailand. Best to find a tannery near you as crocodile skins have many restrictions for international shipping.

Thanks! That color of crocodile is dyed/painted and is called 'Himalayan'. I have been using some other colors in my videos like black, blue and brown.

Hello. First off, very nice work. I'm a bit confused though. If you chisel each panel seperately before glue than the slanted will not line up but turn into X shape which is hard to stich. ??

Thanks! Crocodile/alligator is notoriously difficult to ship overseas. You should start by seeing what is available domestically.

This is basically the one I am using at the moment www.aliexpress.com/item/4000670514011.html it is a generic soldering iron. I use it with an FN2 tip a.aliexpress.com/_mL3oT9J that I got separately which is connected using a short M5 thread bar. It does the job so I have not felt the need to upgrade to a proper edge creaser yet. I recommend it if you are looking for a budget option.

Hello, tell me, in this design, if you make a holder for 6 cards and if all the cards are stacked in it, then the middle is hard enough to open to put bills, is this normal or something wrong? Can you show it on the video?

Hi, a fully loaded card holder will be a bit tight, however as it is used, the leather will stretch and form around the cards a bit which will help. Another way around this would be to have the card slots only on one side and the other side with no pockets. Also as there are so many layers in this type of project, make sure you are using thin leather ~0.7-0.8mm thick and skive edges where possible.

I have a very similar hot stamping machine that I never got very far with, perhaps because I never dialed in the right temperature. Have you found that some foils work better than others, or is all good as long as the foil is indicated for use with leather?

I haven't got any plans for it but a coin purse does sound fun. I have seen some other crafters use it as the centerpiece of a project for fun but I think most people would just throw it away.

Yes Himalayan crocodile is easily my favorite crocodile finish as it so iconic for luxury leather goods. I get my crocodile from a small shop in Bangkok.

Here bloody can have seal skin, which is ban almost in all countries, but not croc or pythons(need cite certificate). Living in Canada, we have to spend too much money on tax, shipping, then DHL takes extra money as well as FedEx and UPS. you can't buy here good leathers or tools if you found one 2 times more than the other countries, why buy everything online.

Hi, how do you remove the excess gold foil around the letters after hot stamping?

I do not know a good way to remove excess foil. The best way is to mitigate the risk by by using test pieces, reducing press time and increasing heat a bit.

If you split the calf lining down to 0.5mm, what machine did you use?

You need a large expensive skiving machine to cleanly skive large leather pieces. I either buy the leather online with free skiving services like Rocky Mountain or take it to a local shop where they have a medium sized skiving machine. A bell skiving machine is probably the most accessible option if you want to buy a machine.
