I always liked this French Trade Knife style best. With a blade shape like this, a good ax, and a good pocket knife, you can do just about anything you wanna do.

The Spirit of the Outdoors “Jonah” knife is an excellent all purpose fixed blade. Justin Peden has presented an excellent demonstration of the craftsmanship that he puts into these knife projects. Basically, from start to finish on crafting a very useful knife and a leather sheath to go with it. Back in April 2023, Justin crafted a “Jonah” knife and leather sheath for me. It has black walnut handle scales. This knife has become my constant companion in the woods and around the homestead. Sharp and cuts every time I ask it to. This is an excellent tool around a campfire, from preparing kindling to food prep. Justin also hand crafted a leather pancake cross draw sheath for this knife. I am one satisfied customer. - Tennessee Smoky

I really enjoy watching a craftsman at work and you certainly are one Justin! Its so unfortunate that our society has gotten dependent on mass produced junk that doesn't last anytime. The old craftsman took their blood, sweat, tears, and time to make something that could be passed down through the generations. I hope everyone that gets one of your knives appreciates the effort you put into them!

I will still make a blade if i need it. I found that unless you have got the equipment or money to buy the equipment its just not worth the pain at my age and physical condition. Ive got about any knid of blade shape and size made by Case, Buck, BK&T, and probably my most used Ontario Knife Co. There are a few others out there but they cover an extremely broad field of shapes and sizes. I have a couple of patterns that nobody has and i still make a knife or two and i have a few tool blade designs that i also make. Most are heavy use knives and tools used mosty clearing around farm and field.

Nice knife brother. Would love to have the time to get one from you. God has abandoned me, just like my family. My mom and dad are long gone, they were the only ones who excepted me for who I was and loved me unconditionally. Time for me to leave this world behind, going to live in the woods for what time I have left. You will always be in my memory as a fellow hunter, fisherman, and woodsman.

God will never abandon you. Family will true friends won't. Sometimes when you are going through tough times it feels that way. When you make it through them it makes you a better person. God is always with you. Read Jobe in the Bible. The woods is the best place to find him and talk to him. Praying for you brother.

Hey Justin! That blade sure hits the "Sweet Spot" on usefulness! There are just somethings that call for a large Bowie... and a small Patch Knife has it's advantages when needed. But... for "All 'Round" requirements... "Jonah" fits the bill! Well Done! (And the sheath is pretty cool too!) Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Take Care and I'll see you down the Trail!

That turned out beautiful. Each one is one of a kind. Way better knife than you can buy thats store bought. Good job. That forge is hot and hammering out knives is a lot of work. People don't realize how much work goes into them until you do it yourself. I converted a wen 6.5 ton woodsplitter into a forge press. It takes a lot of the hammering work out of it. If you are going to be building a lot to sale you might want to think about getting one. They work really well.
