I miss making assemblages so much! My whole Fine Art foundation degree was based on them. All your boxes are lovely! I really need to get back into making them! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for introducing him. I will have to do a bit of research....I do love people who share their uniqueness..his work looks like stuff I could really get into but not more than yours. The first time I saw one of your assemblages I was hooked. Plus your way of talking is nice and relaxed and I always love the old tunes you play.

Thanks for sharing! Heading over to your website now. BTW, now that Cornell has passed, ego out of the way, I'll bet he's pleased.

The background papers...old pages from dictionaries, encyclopedias, atlases, or newspapers, magazines, etc...glued in place...sanded a bit for aging. Clear silicone (from a hardware store) works really well to hold your objects in place. Decide on some key Cornell-type elements that you want to use in some way...cover your box with glass. Good luck with your project.

@ppaisley Many thanks again...you might want to read the book, Utopia Parkway...a great insight into Cornell. I have a great appreciation for all of his assemblages (and collage work), but there are other assemblage/box artists that I also admire.

@Betweenbluengrey I've read Utopia Parkway quite some time ago, but am going to dig it out once again...yes, great reading, fascinating man!

Cornell's work was not random. Check out: Utopia Parkway: The Life And Work Of Joseph Cornell by Deborah Solomon. It is a fascinating read. Check out Charles Mee's Hotel Cassiopeia, a play, as well.

half a million dollars? OMG that is amazing! My favourite of his boxes I saw here was as 10:26. Did his boxes have meanings or where they just random objects assembled together? Always enjoy your videos and thanks for inspiring me in the first place get into box assemblages, i so love it!

From what I've seen so far, I think your boxes are more interesting than Mr. Joseph Cornell's boxes.
