Protip: If you revisit this costume in the future, consider using a waxed hemp or other coated craft-jewelry-making twine for the lip stitches. They won't it wick up moisture nearly so much if at all, and as a bonus it's a more lip-stitching-ly appropriate material. So you can enjoy your snacks while resting assured that, were it an actual case of suitably punishing a disloyal lover, the stitching would have held up beautifully over time. 😂🤬👻 Also, that costume is just the *chef's kiss* perfect way to start the holiday season. (i've just gotten to the section where you use a cheese grater so apologies if you mention this later in the video!) tip for if you ever do weathering like that again: get a wire brush! something with stiff bristles to scratch and tear at the cloth. i learned this from a different youtuber and havent tried it myself (nothing to try it on, lol) so i'm unsure of the best brand/type to get- though whatever you use will be safer than the cheese grater!

I'd just like to suggest using a wire brush instead of a cheese grater or sandpaper, recently been watching a bunch of videos of people making store bought Halloween decorations extra spooky and if I took anything away from them it's: wire brushes are very good at making tattered and worn fabric edges... ...also a heckofalot safer for my fellow accident prone peeps

One thing I've found helps with weathering fabrics is anything with serated blades. Also, razors (like a four-bladed one for shaving the body). Using pavement was a great idea, that is something my costuming instructors have always used in roughing up fabrics. Go even further and find a big jagged rock to scrape at it, or the edge of a cement block and rub it over taut like you're smoothing out a dollar Edited to add: CHEESE GRATER IS PERFECTLY SMART, NICE!!

A multi-bit hole saw where we glue all the sizes into one hand held beast. We use a solid board, lay the garment on the board & go to town with the shredder. Another real good tool is a belt sander (table top not a hand held). Keep up the great work and stay Spooky.

Legitimately one of the best Maksoween projects you’ve ever done! It looks SPOT ON for Billy. I’m so impressed. Also we have all the same styrofoam tombstones from Spirit. 😂

I think this is one of my favorite costumes you've done! It turned out so perfectly grungy and the reveal sequence was SO well done!

Absolutely love it! As always, wonderful job. I was just thinking we needed more Billie costumes because I wanted one for a local showing of Hocus Pocus 1.

Wow, I just noticed you've passed a million! Congrats, Rachel! I've been here for a good few years now and am always amused by what you do. Love this version of Billy. 💕

Seeing you have a desk at a good height to use the sewing machine made me happy! Lace made with polyester are a pain to dye the plastics resist the dye

I was thinking about being Billy for my work’s virtual global Halloween contest, then I saw you insta post & I was hoping you’d make a video on this look. By the way Tommy looked great as Dani & those 2 girls rocked the bully looks in those cages!! 🎃

Wire grill brushes and tweezers are also really great tools for distressing fabric. I like to use those to get some more loose threads out of the garment :)

For distressing fabric, I highly recommend using a wire brush. You can also use a wire brush attachment for your drill. Works nicely!
