Is it wise to use a stitching iron across the leather? Doesn't it weaken the leather at those points?

Ian Knight, correct, never stitch ACROSS any type of leather belt that will be subject to strain . It weakens the leather because it works the same way as a perforated paper. If it breaks, that's where it will break, along those stitches. When making horse gear, that's an absolute big no-no!! It's an accident waiting to happen. ALWAYS stitch along the belt. If you have no other option than stitch across the belt, use as few stitches as possible to save the strenght of the leather. I would have at least 5-6 mm between the stitches, and I would glue a piece of canvas between the layers of leather to compensate a bit for the loss of strength.

Love the stitching "pony" as well. I think I'm going to have to make one of those for when I'm doing belts. Thanks for the idea! What brand of strap cutter is that? I don't think I've ever seen one that you push rather than pull. Very cool. Thanks for the video.

Cheers! If I could change anything about the stitching pony, it would be to make a solid base in the middle for the belt to rest on, rather than the belt resting on each individual bolt. Causing some warping when burnishing the edges. The belt turns out nice and straight, though. The strap cutter is called a plough guage. It's made by Joseph Dixon - that particular one I'm using is around 100 years old. Cut's an angled line, which is not right, so I think it is pasts it time, a bit.

Impresionante todo muy bn pero eso de las dos agujas es un mito con una sola puedes es menos riesgo de picarte solo tienes que meter la aguja cruzar con el otro vídeo del otro lado y regresar la aguja y jalar la aguja y el hilo del otro lado y prácticamente es exactamente igual y así evitas que el hoyo se haga grande por pasar dos agujas peligrosamente dos puntas al mismo tiempo gracias.
