Love this gift idea. I'll be using a different pattern but the hardware you listed is perfect for the project. I'll be ordering them and some other material today. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Chuck! First responder here. Could you go over how to make a radio strap? (Preferably from veg tan) I love your videos and find them the easiest to follow.

That is on the list and we will have a video soon!

What a great idea! Did you know that you can also strop your razor blades to get way more life out of them? What type of compound do you recommend?
@WeaverLeatherSupply11 ай бұрын
We have a few available on our site but we usually recommend the Jewelers rouge or a micro-fine honing compound.

For once, I'll be making something i can use. Being a leather worker as well as a Blacksmith, it's something I'll use often.

Hi Chuck. Thanks so much for the video. I have a quick question. On hand I don’t have a large marble tile. I do however, have a 5”x5” steel plate of roughly the same thickness. I know that the marble tile is preferred, but do you think that would work as a stand in until I’m able to procure one? I’m guessing basically what is needed is a hammering surface with a high shine?
@shaneb643 Жыл бұрын
I went without any kind of slab for the first couple years I did leatherwork, using just the butcher block top of my workbench, and never had any issues. I'd say a steel plate is a pretty good alternative
@WeaverLeatherSupply11 ай бұрын
That should work! You want something that won't mar your leather and will give you a nice heavy base so you won't get bounce back when you hammer. If you're punching holes or making stitching chisel marks, set a cutting pad on top of the steel plate to protect your punches!

Why use glue? Can use Blue Lock Tite (or generic) to achieve same purpose . It comes in liquid and paste(in a tube, like chap stick). Its purpose made.

He's using glue, in case they ever need to be taken apart and replaced, just as he stated.

@@Freeman-Dl70 blue loctite can be opened, red can't be opened without heat, and green is even stronger... so, blue loctite will do the same thing as the glue, but it's made for that very purpose...
