Making a Leather Golf Ball Sleeve

In this project video, we are making a leather golf ball sleeve. This might be a little different project than the usual saddle shop request, but I feel like these will be popular in your shop to offer to your customers.
The sleeve holds 4 golf balls and has a snap at the top so that it can be clipped to a golf bag. And if you lose a ball on the course, a ball can easily be removed from the slot at the bottom of the sleeve without having to open the top.
If you are looking for a unique item that you can make easily and offer to your customers, I think this project will make a great addition.
Below are the links to purchase the pattern pack. We offer this pattern in a PRINTED and a DIGITAL version. If you are in the United States order the printed version... this is a large format print and you can't print this on your home printer. If you are outside of the USA, we offer the digital version and you will have to take to a print shop to have it printed.
PRINTED VERSION: shop.dgsaddlery.com/products/...
DIGITAL VERSION: shop.dgsaddlery.com/products/...

Hey Don (or anyone else in the chat), I know you mentioned at the end of the video that you could see getting between $125 - $150 selling these. I'm fairly new into leather work and selling products. I was just wondering if that would be a good price point for someone that doesn't carry the weight of the "DG" logo? I hate to start off too high, but that's why I'm asking because that may not be too high at all. Great video and plan on ordering the pattern pack very soon! Thanks!

I just made my first one and can’t seem to get it to squeeze out. I’m thinking the 7 ounce leather I used is too thick and will try dripping down to the recommended 5 ounce. Or maybe I will skive down the slot where the balls should elect from. Fun pattern to make for sure!!!

@@Goodhousecrafter I skived down my leather around the ball slot and where you squeeze to make the ball come out to about 4 ounces. Then made sure to work my leather a bit to loosen it up before i glued it together. This made my second and third holder work like a charm.

Yeah, More golfers than riders. I, like you don't play golf. Many, many years ago, I took "golf and archery" in high school for my last PE class, archery was great, but I was lousy at golf. (Riding and roping was not offered as a class) The teacher told me I did not need to try out for his school golf team.

Don, I have tried everything with blue painters tape and every time I end up picking it off in little tiny pieces. It takes an hour on a small project. I have used different brands to and including 3M's best and it will never come off like it does for you. I have changed to shipping tape and that seems to work. I don't know why it works for you and not for me.
@johnpace6859
@johnpace6859 Жыл бұрын
When removing, don't pull up on the tape. Pull it off as flat to the leather as poosible. Doesn't disturb the fibers of the leather as much this way either.
