I made a live edge clock out of mesquite I've had laying around my shop for a few years. I set the center of the clock as close as possible to the middle of a knot and then laid out the clock face in an oval setting in brass rod for the 12 hours on the clock using larger diameter rod for 12, 3, 6, and 9. I also made french cleats to hang it with them at 90 degrees to one another giving me a choice on how to hang it. I liked it so much I know what I'm making for family Christmas gifts this year.... I have a walnut slab in that exact shape and been wondering what to do with it. Was gonna carve a bowl of some sort out of it but this is a Perfect idea.
