Making a Mallard Nestbox

A Sunday afternoon project, making a home for a mallard pair.
The mallards have been hanging around for weeks, even a month now this spring. We're hoping they'll have a nest nearby this year. Will they like the "mallard cottage" and maybe even nest in there?

They hung around for a few weeks but I never saw them go in(also no nest). Moving it to a new location this year and maybe opening it up a bit for easier access? 🤔
