Thanks for the kind words, and no worries! The streams are really just a space to make the most of the work that's gettin' done anyways - our full features are where it's truly at 😊Part 2 coming real soon, with plenty of fun detailing and that full juicy reveal.

Cameron, I gotta say, the Battletech content I watch, the more I want to get back into the game. I actually started from the beginning with Battledroids. We used to play with the Robotech models available at the time. Really nice job with the Marauder! Can't wait to see the finished model! -John

I've definitely had a deeply-rooted desire to play the game from years ago, and it's been super satisfying to get into it during this current renaissance the game is experiencing. Thanks again for the watch!

Seeing the shiny grimy second wash at the end made me immediately want a 4.67 sized Dark One/Black Marauder. Hmmmmmm
@countryfriedminis Жыл бұрын
Ooh yeah that would be a really fun project. I do know of a .stl file out in the wilds of cults3d that's already a multi-part kit: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/black-marauder It'd probably need some further slicing to make it work, but it's doable! Feel free to hit me up if you take it on 😄 Also, keep an eye out for part 2! I've got all the footage, it just needs some editing love and then the tale of Colin MacLaren's Black Marauder will be told.

@@countryfriedminis Oooooooo, that looks decent! I don't have the space to tackle it right now, but I'm gonna be thinking about extending that "neck" a little (iirc the stories have it bending to look without turning the torso like a normal mech), and making a longer slithery tongue FOR SURE. And I'll def be here for part 2!

I've found Starbond ca glue to work really well. It's very watery, so wicks well, and they have a pump spray activator that rocks, as well.

Excellent tip, I'll have to give it a try. Looks like that brand comes in gigantic size as well, which is exactly what a hobbyist needs!

if those little holes on the connecting sides are your drainage holes I fear your marauder might crack open some time in the future. you should cure the inside or make bigger holes to get all the excess resin out or it might just break the model :(
@countryfriedminis Жыл бұрын
I suppose I should have filmed the draining, because it was a doozy! She got a full day of draining out the parts with both drain holes and vent holes, and it did indeed have some cracking issues. Learned so much on this project, and I'm stoked to get another big one going in the future. Good looking out, kind viewer!
@BlauJen887 Жыл бұрын
Ace video and project. But yes, 1) cracking and the removal of resin from hollowed parts (better big holes and seams you fill and fix than seams that appear 2 years later) and 2) if supporting stls yourself, check for internal supports that dry and crack the model later.
@countryfriedminis Жыл бұрын
@@BlauJen887 Solid advice good sir! I've got another big project in the works and it's definitely a candidate for internal support issues. I'll keep this in mind 😋

The marauder is so damn cool. This video has motivated me to reinstall mechwarrior 5 which I play until I remember how much unrealized potential the game fails to deliver 👍👍

Thanks, kind viewer! Part 2 is coming out as soon as it makes it through editing 😜 I totally agree on MW5 - it's really satisfying in some ways but they really dropped the ball with a few gameplay elements.
@sfulibarri Жыл бұрын
@@countryfriedminis Eh its probably better than I'm giving credit for, the nostalgia factor for the older MW games plays a part for sure. That cliffhanger was brutal though, looking forward to part 2 for sure.
@countryfriedminis Жыл бұрын
@@sfulibarri I think my chief complaint with MW5 is the way in which LRMs lose their target once you cease to have a continuing lock in the cockpit 😑 Having to track targets all the way until the missiles land is not how they've worked in any other MW game so far... and really decreases my enjoyment of a missile boat platform. ...That and the abysmal AI. But, it's still fun at the right times. I have to wonder if there are mods that address some of the poorly executed elements in the game?
@sfulibarri Жыл бұрын
@@countryfriedminis the lrm targeting is a strange choice for sure, very unintuitive and frustrating. I do think the ai is my biggest gripe which isn't helped when enemies spawn in locations where the ai gets confused and stuck. Nothing deflates the experience of an otherwise enjoyable mission than 10 minutes of looking for that last enemy in the far corner of the map half stuck in the terrain. I have not looked in a while but there were some interesting mods that were a bit rough around the edges, probably worth checking again.

Painting a bigger scale battletech model is a real treat. You don't have to force the highlighting as much with your paint work, as the bigger scale lets the natural light do a bit more of the work than what the regular little models allow. The smaller the scale, the more you've really gotta punch up the contrast 😜

Besides a respirator, you might also consider a HEPA vacuum for clean up, a good air filter and/or good ventilation. Some people don't realize that its not just while you sand when particle are dangerous. It'll be in the air for a bit when you finish. ^_^

Excellent looking out, kind viewer! Definitely some food for thought considering the regular exposure to such particulate that can come with this fine hobby.
