You know, I was just thinking... the mechanism of a bobblehead is undoubtedly way easier than that of a Pez dispenser. And Season 2 of a certain post-apocalyptic show based on a video game where bobble-heads play a somewhat large role is coming out "soon".

It felt like a long time from when I saw the short about this until the full video came out. Totally worth the wait. This was great! It's awesome that you care about your safety and wearing PPE. As a fellow "Beard-O", I thought you would want to know that all of the respirators, masks, etc loose a scary amount of their ability to protect you when you have any facial hair at all. I watched a video of a firefighter showing how the OSHA minimum required was no longer met when the guy had a beard, but once shaved, the same device was way over the required effectiveness. With a beard, it's still better than nothing, but not enough. I looked into this when I started resin printing. The only truly safe type (That I have been able to find) for bearded folk, is the full head type with the backpack. Like Evin and Kaitlin sometimes use. They are not cheap, but maybe you can get the company to send you one? If not, maybe you can use, or make some sort of fume extraction station. Even just doing it in a larger space with a fan and open windows will help. Congrats on another fun project and video. Well, fun for us. We didn't have to do all that work. I wish I could make it to Open Sauce. I went to Maker Faire in the Bay area 8 times. I love these type of events. Have a great time!

I appreciate you, man. Thanks for the tip! I probably can’t afford one of the giant ones right now, but I’ll look into it when it seems like an option! I’ll just be sure to do fume-y work down in the open garage or next to an open window with a fan for now.

You need the foot sander/grinder that M.M's Prop Shop uses, it makes sanding way easier on big areas. Cheaper than a palm sander.

This wouldn't be super feasible for a project of this size, but I've had some good results using poster putty/sticky tac for masking organic shapes. I've also used kneaded erasers in a pinch, sometimes the kneaded eraser works out better because it's less sticky and you have an easier time removing it (Though I guess it being less sticky means it might fall off easier mid-painting).
@AustinBradley
@AustinBradley 7 ай бұрын
Honestly, what I used may have been a great option, I just used it poorly. I should’ve looked up recommendations for using it with big spray painted stuff like this rather than the watercolor and stuff it’s typically used for. I just saw so many people using stuff like this that I thought it was straightforward🤷🏻‍♂️

@@AustinBradley You deserve it. Your stuff is amazing. I do have to ask -- how exhausted ARE you? I just attended. My social-anxiety-ridden self couldn't imagine talking to the swaths of people you undoubtedly did, and I was drained by mid-day-2. (This is something I wanted to ask Wicked Makers and Nerdforge and you, but didn't want to monopolize too much of your times) I can't imagine having people come up to me for two days straight. Also, great job making it home in about 30 hours. Did y'all drive in shifts or something?
@AustinBradley
@AustinBradley 7 ай бұрын
@@jimbobjones9330 I’m definitely pretty tired, but I worked as a school photographer for a long time, so I’m a bit used to being on my feet all day with high energy. It also helped that a lot of people asked some of the same questions, so I could kind of fall into a script… but my responses were definitely falling apart near the end of day 2 😅 We’re actually still on our way home now with many hours to go- just been taking shifts back and forth. Excited to get home soon to sleep in my own bed!
