Philip O Callaghan i agree to a point. Im a welder, i pretty damn good welder if i do say so myself, but if the welds are getting polished it shouldnt matter what they look like as long as there arent holes everywhere

Agree , but there are holes/divits it's too badly done on the cheek recesses , check out WeldingGeek, his is an absolute beauty with no pitting on the joints...Best so far....IMHO.

+k Most likely is his job... Or at least he works doing something with metal. A machinist or welder perhaps. No one who simply does this as a hobby has that kind of machinery and tools nor do their hands look like that. You can tell this guy has been doing this a lot for a while now.

Spectacular job! You make it look so easy! If you wanted to stay in the Star Wars theme and have a challenge, a Biker Scout helmet would be really kick ass. Outside of that universe, an Iron Man helmet could be dope as well!

That's pretty amazing how you figured it out into its most basic details. I was imagining making it & my mind was coming up with all sorts of bazaar radius's trying to figure out this shape flat. WOW this is a fantastic video. Great the way you had the foresight to film each step and then edit the video to show the whole process. I love it. Then the content of the video , WOW you are a great craftsman. I never saw any body do metal work on you tube. I love it. The attention to detail is surperb. So many people make helmets out of cardboard or plastic or foam. This has to be the ultimate metal helmet. I bet I couldnt afford it though. Wonderful work all round.

For those without an English wheel, I once did this same build using a steel World War Two or Vietnam Pot helmet off of eBay as the dome. They go for like 20 bucks, if you search around. Check army surplus too.

Jay Perry I've been welding for 16 years. The method I used in the video tack Welding (stitch welding) is the proper method to weld sheet metal. If I ran a bead it would have warp and distorted the metal. Therefore a welding class would do me no good. In fact I can probably teach the welding class a thing or two.
