That was an excellent instruction video! Beautifully made bag too, BTW. I subscribed right away (with a thumb up), and you've inspired me to look further into "leather crafting". Either this coming winter or spring I will be purchasing a new bike (although I'm having a very hard time deciding on which one!). Because of your video I will be giving serious thought to doing the bags (and even possibly the seat cover) myself. To have that extra dimension of custom individuality would be very gratifying, and to have it be something done by your own hand would make it that much more so I would think. Also, buying what is available in the after market limits your choice of colour to only 2 or 3 choices, and that's only if something other than black is available. Thank you very much for demonstrating that while the work must be done quite carefully, it is not beyond the ability of somebody who knows how to work with his hands. Thanks again.

Thanks Rick, happy to know the video helped and inspired you. You should totally give it a try, start with something small first. I am planning on building a custom seat and a cover for my bike soon. Btw what bikes have narrowed down your search too?

You'll laugh because it's such a wide array, but there are so many great bikes out now. I'm a geezer/returning rider, and, natch, I like the retro bikes and cruisers. Most likely I'll go for the Yamaha bolt because it suits what I want to do on a bike (i.e., cruise), it's not expensive, so there is room to make some modifications without breaking the bank, and there are a lot of aftermarket parts available. But, I might step up to the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster and spend less on modifications. But, I might go for the Triumph Street twin, Street Scrambler, or T 100. And, then there is the Kawasaki 900RS Cafe, which is the bike I always wanted, but nobody made. Now, I'm not so sure it's the right bike for me. I'm also quite interested to see the 2019 bikes because, who knows, there might be something that will come along and change my mind. I've already customized each one of the above mentioned bikes in my mind, and I've priced out the extra accessories required (except for the Kawasaki because not much needs doing on that bike except for addressing a fuelling issue at low RPM. I'll definitely be interested in your saddle project when you get around to it. It looks as if you have a Suzuki cruiser which is a good platform for your skills. Thanks for replying, and I'll let you know which bike I end up with. Cheers!

Thank you :) Just one more thing, I always wanted to do leathercrafting and your videos really inspired me but I lack the tools, what do you think would be the necessary tools for starters?

the feels are alive I'm not an expert but I'm a trained seamstress and I might have a useful tip. Plan out what you're making, and do your research on what tools you need for that specific project. If you're just going to glue everything together, you might need like a cutting mat, something to cut with, measuring tape or a ruler and contact cement or leather glue. If you're planning on sewing, the right string and so on. You get my point. Hope this was somewhat helpful. Otherwise just google! I'm sure someone's done a post on tools.

What Floramakes wrote are good tips. A lot of people are asking me similar questions and I plan on making a video soon for starters that go into detail on how to get started with lethercrafting.
