You're so right about finishing the project and having a time frame. Lots of people start things - books, films, all sorts of stuff. 99% never finish them. Just getting a project finished, no matter how disappointed you may be in the final result, puts you ahead of the vast majority of people. Think of the worst movie you've ever seen. It may have been rubbish, but it got finished, which puts it ahead of all those that got abandoned. If you're not happy with your creation, you'll hopefully figure out what didn't work and correct that for your next project - and create a bunch of shiny brand new things you're unhappy about. And that's where having a deadline is important - it forces you to finish and keep moving forward. Great video, and I loved your short, too!

Nice and wise advices. You're totally right. Most of the projects that aren't finished is for trying to make them perfect.

Your lessons from making Mechaflora send a clear message and are spot on. Nobody wants to go down like Jodorowsky's Dune which probably failed for many of the same reasons. Another future lesson which you might want to explore is: How can AI shortcut the movie development, with a combination of ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion or MJ. GPT Transformation of geometry nodes is something Stable Diffusion might let you take over a lot of the manual work and save a chunk of hours. Yet I learned that the prompt engineering around that also takes time and a learning curve. Kudos again on Mechaflora

Thanks for your comment. Yes, walking the fine line between A: wanting to perfect your passion project vs B actually releasing it, it's not always easy or straightforward. I'm very interested in the use case of GPT 4 together with Blender. Once you can just send screenshots of your application and get feedback that way, that would be one MAJOR upgrade. In the meantime I have a video coming up about a Blender ChatGPT addon.

Wonderful to grasp the whole set-up and what it takes to get your film actually finished. Love the presentation, too!
