The size of push plates is undersized on nearly all splitters. Personally I'd like to see them up around 12" square and the sliding surfaces extended so that they are at least 12" long as well.

My TW-P1 had a lot of play like your push block (no crack though)...you have to replace the shims, as they are a wearable part. I bought it used and had to learn about it. I found out later those shims were mangled but i replaced both sides and is solid now. You have to grease every use with a gun. It doesn't move a lick now but you should be always aware and try to place the even side of the round on the push block side to avoid this unevenness and grease to avoid premature accelerated wear. Who knows, it maybe a design issue. Nice job though on the larger push block...they really should be bigger especially the TW-5.

You should put bigger tires and rims on it so it's not as low to the ground.

I like it low to the ground so I don’t have to pick big pieces up to my chest to load them onto it

It would be nice if it was like 2” taller. But once saw dust builds around it, it wouldn’t make a difference

I have a Timberwolf TW5 with 36" splitting cylinder so as I can spit longer wood for my Hardy outdoor boiler. However, as seen in 99.5% of all splitters (including mine), we have the same issue. Lots of (stringy) pieces will not completely pass thru the wedge, hence no complete split. Log has to be reversed and split at other end to complete split in half. Frustrating. Does anyone know of a Good Extender (with a cut out in middle so as to pass wedge) that we can use to resolve this issue? I want to make sure the extender makes complete use of the push plate on the spliter. I'm thinking maybe 2 pieces of thick steel on each side of the pushplate (with a gap in the middle) that can push the log 1-3 inches further down the push plate. . Any ideas/suggestions?

Making an extension for the front of it so that it can pass through the splitting knife would work perfect! The new head on ours works awesome it pushes the wood passed the front of the knife it we don’t have a little piece sticking out the front. It sounds like you’re on the right track with what you want to do
