Loved this so much! Thanks for sharing, its amazing to see it come to life out of cardboard & loo roll! I think it looked like it was made of ceramic in the end. Beautiful work. I made a kind of switchplate cover in an old rented flat. It was the oven switch. I had a small gold frame that just fit over it, & inserted a magazine picture with a hole cut out for the switch, where the red switch looked like a door in the context of the image. Pointless but it gave me so much joy. I also decorated the crappy kitchen cupboard doors with freehand cutout trees made from wood effect vinyl. Thanks for inspiring my lil trip down memory lane! X

Beautiful job! I'm in college for art right now, and sometimes it really makes me feel like everything I make (both inside and outside of class) has to be perfect and finished to a professional level. Thank you for reminding me that I can do art for myself just because it makes me happy, and that it doesn't always have to be absolutely perfect! You're an inspiration😉
@beigeflannelКүн бұрын
Yeah it’s very easy to feel that way when you’re studying it- can steal some of the joy from making but it’s also so wonderful to be able to fully immerse yourself in your creativity at college - hope your course is going well!

A little robot baby in an easter bonnet! I love your style (and Charleston inspiration) - it is absolutely not my own taste, which leans minimal and natural materials, and a bit of industrial - but I so appreciate your talent and imagination, and the lovely handmade, repurposed, artistic home you are creating for yourself. And for Tony, the evil dancing tree doll. I am now inspired to do something with the hideous white plastic fusebox that is on my rented living room wall - it is at eye height, sits out about 20 cm (8 inches?) and has a tiered curved front in clear plastic so that you can gaze in at the ugly black and yellow safety switches inside. Your frame idea made me think perhaps of some kind of family portrait, with a central picture covering the switches and a 3D frame that incorporates lots of smaller pictures ...its always a toss up with functional things between wanting them simply to blend in and disappear and making a decorative feature of them. In your setting, go the decorative route every time. Thanks again for a lovely video.

@wickedwitch352019 сағат бұрын
I think this is adorable. Also, i suggest "Creepy Carl" for your hanging ornament. I am fond of alliteration. Back to topic...i have been wanting to do something with my light switches and outlet cover. Light switches and outlet cover are more flush to the walls in American homes. So i couldn't make a frame like that and have it stay without attaching it to the wall but its good inspiration!

I love it, it's so great. It looks like a face with the dots as the eyes and the switch is the nose and the little creature is wearing a bowtie and a wreath

Just earlier today…. I was looking at making my kitchen light switch into a piece of toast….. I love toast. I don’t love home electrical fires though, and I don’t trust myself.
@janelte2 күн бұрын
you could sculpt it from polymer clay that you dry in the oven if you are worried about the paper being a fire risk, although I can't see how anything that is not in contact with the electrical wires would ever be an issue. If you want the subtlety of painted colours, you could even go the salt dough route ...

Speaking of fun light switches - have you seen the 3D printed contraptions that you can attach to your light switch that turn it into like a big mad scientist lever that you pull? i don't know if they were designed for fun or accessibility, but they should do both!!
