Maybe it's because I do smaller jobs than you, but I always give a total price that includes work and materials. It has worked for me so far. I think that customers analyze and get defensive more often when there are too many details on a bill ; I have a tendancy to do that when I'm the customer 😉. "You want those 2 doors changed? X$ and I can have it done for you by the weekend.". Again, this might work for me because I do smaller jobs ; thanks for the advice,

It’s called pass-thru. The percentage should match whatever your expected profit margin should be. If the money comes thru your hands, you get a cut.
