I am looking at making a DND terrain and tile store on ETSY, your videos are helping immensely! I am very new to making the terrain/tiles and your videos are helping immensely! While I understand why some people prefer how the 3d printed terrain looks, I think it misses the beautifully homemade and wholesome feel that your terrain encapsulates!

Thank God for another DM (like myself) who crafts a heck of a lot, cares so much about the players enjoyment and stays within Greyhawk!!! Gary would turn over....so much now is Eberron, Forgotten Realms and Krynn.....I'll cary the torch, for DM's who really care about D&D's past, respects the founders of the game (not petty authors filling their own pockets). Realizing that THIS GAME (D&D) has an original rich history that was NEVER deeply tapped into which would diminish this "Sundering"!!!

Giant stone slabs were sliding down so if you left the puzzle you could never get in the room. The slabs only lifted up if you solved it. Since it was real time you had to decide about being entombed forever or getting out.

Thank you so much for all the sweet videos and ideas! I love your creativity. Do you have any videos showing how you store everything or your workshop? I would like to see how you keep all these pieces when they aren't currently in use. A lot of my pieces are very delicate and I am just curious what you would suggest. I would like to see what your workshop looks like! What "tools" do you find most helpful to have on hand? (washers, elmers glue, common paints, etc.) Thanks again for everything you do!

I store a lot of stuff in clear plastic containers....I do a monthly video magazine called Crafter's Lair for my Patreon supporters....check it out and get instant access to all back issues...I answer a lot of these questions in my monthly vid magazine.

@nicolomarinello406611 жыл бұрын
Yes you are very right. I've gotta say that I find 4E a little too much like WOW but if you put it in the DM prospective is easier to control the game. Now I've been a fan of riddles and puzzles since I first saw Labyrinth when I was a kid and I try to use them in my campaign as much as I can, but I play Pathfinder and it's hard to create a puzzle that is compelling and at the same time it can't be solved simply casting a spell of some sort. By the way yours are awesome vids. You are very good.

My biggest question is how do you fit this in a story? Who creates such puzzle and leaves treasure behind it and why?
@theDMsCraft8 жыл бұрын
+Sky Lord Panglot It was an ancient dwarven stronghold. If you know the answer you are safe...if not you are entombed forever...bwwhhhaaaaaaa.
@SkyLordPanglot8 жыл бұрын
theDMsCraft Sounds nice on the surface, but I cant see who would make such complicated contraption to protect his treasures. This sounds more like a test. What Im saying is not only about this, but about all puzzles overall. The only logic behind a puzzle I can think of is a test. Test that will allow only the ones who pass it to continue or something. Puzzles are fun, but I cant really fit them into a story.
@theDMsCraft8 жыл бұрын
Understood, they do push the bounds of realism a bit but so do Dragons and magic.
@SkyLordPanglot8 жыл бұрын
theDMsCraft Well I find this partly true. I mean, auras and energy exist in the real world as well. It needs a little modification of our physics to make it so magic is possible. Dragons also can be explained. I mean you can come up with explanation why these things exist, but to come up with logic for something obviously inefficient and placed there for the amusement for the players (not the characters) only is kinda hard. On top of all that I like puzzles a lot but... :D
@FantasyForay8 жыл бұрын
+Sky Lord Panglot -- Hence that part of the genre name "Fantasy". In a Fantasy, anything can happen for any reason. Even in real life, not everyone thinks "straight arrow" logically with the utmost efficiency. If you're such the purist in staying as real as real life, you can make it whatever fits your fancy. Most of my puzzle encounters are just tests, but others are actually traps, not meant to be solved without taking damage, or are not meant for either trap or test, but are elaborate combination locks that the greedy, paranoid builder, in his skewed mental state felt that no one would be able to figure out, in the off chance that his vault was discovered. If, for you, the only reason for the puzzle is as a test, then there's how you'd fit it into your story. As theDMsCraft says in the intro, not all DMs like to incorporate puzzles. This is just a video for those who do, and to provide ideas for them.

OK, this is clever but you can't use it for a party of medium or high level, because they are gonna teleport out of it if they can't solve in time, also with all the treasure if they have spells like disintegration or some spell that modifies rock and stone. they also can use divination spells to get clues or even the solution. this is the real problem with riddle, puzzles and clever traps. it is gonna be harder and harder to add these things as the party grows

My apologies. Im not knocking all the great campaigns developed for D&D. Its that Greyhawk has taken a backseat no, thrown out of the bus in regards to the future of D&D. Since Ive been playing since 79, I got to know Gary years before his death & not accepting the way TSR (soon Wizards then Hasbro) ousted him in 85 was nasty to say the least. Greyhawk is a great campaign rich in history & developed with true historical references to make the world believable. Now its all Dritzzt & Elminster
