This is how I make rings, but instead of a mandrel, I use a battery powered drill. Works good. I've made some pretty damn good rings. Oh, but I make the blank itself by hard soldering the silver.

Do you heat treat your Damascus? You can get a better pattern contrast if you do. Also etching in instant coffee helps that too.

That sandpaper works best if you soak it in water for 5 minutes before you use it. I paint cars and have to do a lot of sanding

There is actually surprisingly little texture difference with etching Damascus, because you sand down the damascus so the ridges become significantly less pronounced. The sanding is what makes the whiter color show.

Not really on stainless Damascus like this ring is. But on a carbon Damascus it might do get interesting patina effects.

Yes, you could and then wrap the edges of the ring with electrical tape so you don’t ruin the etch. but its still a bit tricky to not ruin the etch while sanding and polishing the inlay even with the tape.

Muriatic Acid is interesting stuff. Probably one of the nastiest things I've experienced was getting hydrogen chloride (anhydrous HCl) in my sinuses. It wasn't pleasant. It doesn't stay anhydrous long in the sinuses. Hydrate HCl is, pretty much, muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid. Luckily it was a very minute amount.

In the show a billion called Mandrin collect these Ten ring called Makluan Rings. Can you try and recreate all ten and possibly make them glow. I haven't seen then anywhere to be bought. I'm thinking at some point to cosplay the mandrin. I want to see how I should make them. Whether they're made of metal and resin. Who knows

@@AntoLeNice Handsaw => cut a ring off a tube that fits or rodstock (drill hole, file out that hole or dremel it out), put the ring on your dremel, sand/file/mill out the channel, fill it up as shown. Uncreative untalented people will always have excuses not to make or try anything.

I feel bad for dissing Patrick Adair designs, if only all of the craftsman there took their work as seriously as PA, customer service definitely needs to be improved. I’m sure it’s not easy but just hire humans instead of robots like Rebekah xD
