This build inspires me. I would have used screw-in threaded insert to fix the handles/knobs. The threaded bushings that you hammered in are meant to be 'on the other side' of the wood to cope with the pulling forces of the handles... Besides, the screw-in type bushings look a lot nicer. I do love the way you made the height adjustment.

Nice video on building a router plane. But those handle......got to go for some nice wooden versions!

I agree with you. I think the wooden handle would look better and the grip would be good. Thanks for watching. Have a good day.😀

Do u have to do the Knealing process with these Hex Keys or would it be ok to grind on a wet wheel or keep dipping in water on a dry wheel? I have a couple of these Allen Keys that I want to use to make my router Plane. Would u mind at all explaining the whole reheating process if u have a minute. Could I find that online somewhere it'll be explained properly? If anybody in the comments can point me n the right direction I would be very grateful. I guess Woodworkers centuries before the made the newest ones from Metal probably made theirs from wood mostly? I like ur version of the router plane my friend. It's very smartly built imho. I'm going to take a punt at making my own tomorrow. Could I use ordinary car oil when heating it?? Like a 3 in 1 type? I don't understand that whole process. Enjoyed ur video pal. Keep up the great content.

Ok, nice. But making a DIY hand tool using a bunch of specialized power tools kind of defeats the purpose.

I didn't explain the title well. I agree with you. Thank you for watching and for the feedback. Have a nice day.😀

@@MuyoungWorkshop I don't mean to be harsh, it's a great video, very well put together, and I can still learn from it, even though I personally wouldn't be able to reproduce the process. Thanks for sharing your work!

All you really need is a drill with a forstner bit , chisels any normal hand saw, a grinder and a lot of sandpaper.
@Jawsjawsjawsrg3 жыл бұрын
@@cactusmann5542 Actually depending on how much sanding you need to do you don't even need the sand paper. You could get by with pulling the blade edge of the knife behind then using chips of the wood for the final sand down.
