On this week's show, I demonstrate how to use your scroll saw (or bandsaw) to make some miniature spoon rests. With a little bit of resin work and some laser embellishments, this project has a little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy it.

A very worthwhile project. They would be very handy on the porch, patio, and even during break time in the workshop. How about for the grand-kids when they have hot chocolate. Enjoyed, take are!

They could even be up-sized and made into coasters Michael. That resin would really seal in the wood and prevent any moisture damage. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

Great little spoon caddy Ken, nice and simple and quick. And like Alan said all from scrap which we all have plenty of. Thanks for the video, and have a great day Ken.

I do enjoy my laser engravers Philip and they do add a very professional look to any embellishments that you might want to add to your projects but they aren't for everyone. Thanks for tuning in and for taking the time to leave your comment this week.

@@acutabove_woodworkings I look forward to you shows and seldom miss them 😊 you have me on the laser stuff now and enjoying my glowforge but I am still learning 😊 I had an idea from one of your past shows where you made the wall dragonfly I made this one but was not happy with how my wings turned out, I wonder now with the laser could I cut out something that looks more like their wings? Thought maybe if I put a dragonfly bug in your ear maybe with your wing design skills ? Just an idea ? Hint hint 😊
@acutabove_woodworkings
@acutabove_woodworkings Жыл бұрын
@@juliet4262 How big do you need the wing to be? Send me an email and we will work out how to do it. I have several ideas but one involved a dragon fly wing image, converted to a line drawing in Lightburn, then a secondary layer offsetting the perimeter of the wing. The offset would be set to cut and the wing line drawing would be set to engrave. Could be stunning. Just a thought.

Kenny, great use of some scraps. I just might have to “borrow” this idea with some modifications. I don’t have a laser but I am sure my CNC can carve things quite easily. Maybe we will see. Thanks for the idea.

How timely I just bought a Longer Ray 5 10 watt Laser with air assist arriving tomorrow. Updated my Lightburn too. So I will be making some of these 😀🛫

The Longer Ray 5 is a capable 10watt machine. I showcased it a little while ago here on the show. I would definitely suggest an air assist setup for it though to minimize the overturn on your engravings. I have seen plenty of folks who 3D print their own air assist nozzles if that is something that's up your ally. Good luck with your Ray5 and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have. Thanks for tuning in.

@@acutabove_woodworkings the laser arrived last week, the air assist today 😀. As you said this helps mitigate the over burn. I am burning test tile for the Norton White technique now. I used the default settings in the test grid from Lightburn and they were really hot, And yes I have a 3 d printer too! 😀🛫
