Great lure. I want to start making lures, I think I'm going to go for something like this in the video for my first ever lure. What wood would you suggest?
@lookerslures6 ай бұрын
I have used all kinds of wood but for your first lurw I would suggest pine or some kind of softwood as it's more buoyant, most of the lakes I fish are quite shallow so i want a slow sinking lure it might take more lead to get it to sink but I find it easier than hardwoods to balance as some hardwoods only take the slightest bit of lead to sink you want to test sink your lure in a sink or container with all of your hardware, hooks split rings ect once you have sealed the wood.

Hi mate do you just super glue the treble holders in? (don't know the actual name lol) obviously it works but can just picture them coming out lol especially the one the trace attaches to if I was to be stuck in a snag or a good sized pike lol
@lookerslures2 жыл бұрын
i usually use thick superglue or 5 minute epoxy the wood i use is very porus usually, never had one come loose yet and had fish to 20 plus on them just make sure its a tight fit before fitting and glueing

Hi mate great vidoe going to have a go at making one my self! How do you balance the lure? And make sure it sinks correctly ect
@lookerslures2 жыл бұрын
I have a koi pond and usually balance my lures in there. I pour my lead with a lead pot and then take a drill bit with me when balancing in the pond to remove lead I also balance with the hooks attached and setup on a rod with a leader to get the desired action I pour lead in holes either end of the lure to get a wide gliding action you can just add weight to one part of the belly section but the glide isn't as stable if you weight 2 sections closer to the middle of the belly you will get a more erratic tight glide have fun every wooden lure has a slightly different action that's why I love making them so much enjoy hope you catch a few on your lure good luck 👍
