Making a simple leather cigar case

This is a project that is easy, fun and easy to customize. You can also use this as a eye glass holder, depending how you case it, or not. These make great gifts and you'll be proud to say you made it yourself. It's also a good project to practice you leather lacing on.

It was a 3 to 4 oz veg tan leather. You can use any weight you'd like depending on whether you are going to stamp it or keep it plain. Thanks for watching

Good question. I use a hot plate and a sauce pan to heat up the oil to a warm temperature.

Question. You mark a line half the distance from the dowels to the edge. Glue the two pieces together about a 1/4" wide from the edge. What line do you use for the sewing? Maybe I'm missing something. Great video for a simple but classy project. Thanks!

How are you determining the width of leather to cut? I have tried this and the first size I tried the top cover wound up being just a bit to small to use. my second attempt was to large. There must be a rule of thumb to use to get the proper width the first time every time especially for the top cover.

Peter Pan it is called whip stitching. It is a very fancy way of using leather cord to sew the edges together and at the same time cover the outer edge as well.

You need a lot of cord to do it though. About seven times the length of whatever you want to stitch

sn nordic most people use equal parts bees wax and parafin wax. heat up to melt together in a small crockpot. pour into paper muffin trays and let set up.

The oil is neatsfoot oil and slightly heated Don't know what voks is.
