Making a Simple Traditional Locket: A Silversmithing Tutorial

This tutorial shows how to make a simple traditional locket. The stone is an oval dyed blue Agate. This is an advanced level project. For materials, I used 18 (1.02 mm) and 20 (.79 mm) gauge sterling round wire, 14 gauge (1.6 mm) sterling square wire, 22 gauge (.66 mm) sterling sheet, and 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) fine silver bezel strip in 26 gauge (.41 mm). As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and My-T-Flux, although I used a bit of easy paste solder for the last soldering operation.

You have been helpful in teaching me techniques and shortcuts, but I am conflicted about which method would be best for creating a basket that can open to allow the user to change the marble or stone without needing to remove the basket from the chain to open it. Any tips? Thank you so much.
