In this video I am going to continue the process of building a slip joint shadow trapper, a folding pocket knife commonly reffered to as a "sodbuster." This is the fourth in the series and we will explore not only the mechanics of building the knife but also the knife shop, tools techniques and some safety concerns. I am relatively new to the art of folding knives. I have made a couple in the past with varying degrees of success. I am now in a learning phase and taking you along for the ride. When this knife and series is complete I will be giving it away to one of you and then we can start the next build. I hope you follow along and enjoy the build, I hope you learn with and have fun being a part of the experience. After all this is supposed to be fun. Hit the subscribe and notifications icon and come back every Sunday for the 1830 PST live feed. I might just be giving away something else cool and you have to be there to win it. By all means support this channel by sharing the hell out of it, and checking out the links that I put down below. --Norseman
RULES FOR ENTRY IN THE RAFFLE.
1) Watch each video in the series and comment "TICKET" (one entry per person per video)
2) Share the video on FACEBOOK, tag "Survival Hardware" on Facebook and recieve another ticket for the raffle (one entry per page per video)
Of course I would love it if you LIKE the videos, SUBSCRIBE to the channel and click the NOTIFIATIONS BELL, but I wont make that a rule, I would just appreciate it very much.
THATS IT!
I will give the knife away after the series has run its course, I will pull one ticket on the Sunday 1830 live show following the last video. Must be 18 years old to win and Identification will be required before I can ship the knife to you.

We prefer handmade, homemade sounds amature. But yea, there is a lot of work and it can all go to hell with only one small mess up. But man it is a big reward when you get through it and know you made something very special.

That's cool as 🤬, Dave. I knew it wasn't easy to build one of those from raw materials, but seeing you show us under the hood from scratch makes it obvious. Thanks and thanks for the ticket, too. S/F

Yea, that's the main motivation for the series, to show how difficult it really is, the cost of a handmade slip joint is definately justified for a well made one. And second to give a roadmap for anyone wanting to give it a try.

That's how I felt after I made my first couple. But now 9 am definately bitten by the bug. They are a ton of fun to make once you develop a routine with it.
