Great informative and practical video. Wonderful to see your son passing time with his Dad. That's the kind of thing he'll remember in years to come

Does a video on making a bee hotel need to end with "you have to sometimes kill the bee to identify it"?

Hello, thank you for the lovely film, very helpful! Could you give some feedback with regards to the different materials used - what did the bees prefer from the bamboo, nettles and fennel stems. Ta!
@ouseandadurriverstrust Жыл бұрын
Hi Alexander, different species of bee like different sized holes to nest in so it's best to try a variety of sizes/materials and see which ones get used. Nettles tend to be smaller, bamboo can be most sizes and fennel offers the largest stems usually. The bees can occupy surprisingly small spaces!

If you’re sawing the Bamboo in a bundle, would it help to fit the tin over the end of the bundle, both as a guide to cut against and also hold them firm and make sawing easier?

Thanks Peter, yes sometimes we have done that, but it can make it harder to get a good grip on the bundle as you're sawing. Thanks and good luck if you're making one!
