It's a good sampler, but with those minipads I can't handle myself, for finger drumming, I sold the SP404mk2 to get the MC-707 and it's perfect for finger drumming. Also the MC 707 reminds me a lot of the E-Mu SP1200, but with that step sequencer on the panel there is no color, with many more controls on the panel and 8 faders the truth is that I much prefer the MC-707 much more expensive, but much more powerful with its Zen-Core synth. Thanks for the video, I loved this machine when I had it.
@Nonjuror
@Nonjuror Жыл бұрын
I definitely see the advantage of the 707 layout for finger drumming, two rows of pads makes much easier access for two hands. Plus, yeah, the faders / knobs experience on gear there’s no substitute for. Cheers!

I’m a longtime Maschine user. Been contemplating a standalone beat machine for years. What you think about the SP? Is it easy to pitch and time stretch samples? Doing it on Maschine is stupid af and Native Instruments should’ve fixed it years ago.
@Nonjuror
@Nonjuror 2 жыл бұрын
I think pitch shift / time stretch is pretty easy to do on the MK2, I like being able to grab samples from different places n make them fit. Never used Maschine so I dunno if it’s better, how does it do it?
@Blogspierre
@Blogspierre 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a REKKID. Please post A second video, just featuring the finished version at the end. I pray to the Blastmaster that the MK2 ushers the return of the boom bap in the consciousness. At least equal to the ubiquity of the study beats scene.

BUG ISSUE: I’ve seen a few times on Reddit so not isolated to just me. It’s a rather big bug but probably not notice because a lot of users aren’t using the export project/import project function that much - so it’s going under the radar. If you export a project then you try to import it into a pad slot it doesn’t work...sometimes. And sometimes it does work... and sometimes it doesn’t but it’ll work if you try a different slot. The issue has a second tier - When it doesn’t work it still creates a space on the pad you imported to. When you go to “delete project” and try to delete it it doesn’t delete...kinda...It does delete the information but it doesn’t delete the light indicator until you power off on the unit and delete project again...sometime. Lol So basically it works but it’s not stable.

Apologies if this questions was already asked. But can you record from like a KZbin video directly to the 404? Fire beat btw
@Nonjuror
@Nonjuror 2 жыл бұрын
Nope, first time! Yeah, easily. When you connect the mk2 to your computer or ipad or whatever it can be selected as the audio interface for that device, this then means it’s receiving the audio from anything (youtube, netflix…etc) directly.

How do I get samples to play back through both left and right sides?

big ups my man! Been seeing you for a while I have one question : Can you record in pattern mode all your drum hits at once ? I have a sp404 A and i practiced a lot with its quantize settings to get it on my point of view! Keep banging,salud!

Thanks heaps, appreciate you watching! The polyphony I think is 32 sounds at once which could be 16 stereo pads (or 32 mono) before it cuts out, you should be all good laying down your drums is one take without it causing trouble. Is that what you mean?

Ill beat dude, cool to see a whole track done making good use of the new functions. Cracks me up how you say cass-ette is that an Aussy thing? Be interesting to compare the cassette sim with some of your type 2s + 4s on some drums etc.

Thanks man! Haha yeh that’s one of them accent things, didn’t think of that! That’s a good thing to test out, I haven’t tried comparing it to tape, I think it’s kinda more type 2 than 4, it’s a dirty compression type deal. Will think on it!

@@Nonjuror I recon its gonna be more tape effect (hpf) (wow + flutter) which is prob better for longer chops etc. But will it bring out that meaty low end like real tape is what im wondering? Cos thats that analogue voodoo that noone has bottled yet

Is your input into the sampler coming from the amp or just the turntable
@Nonjuror

Just the turntable, it has a small boost in it but with an amp would be much much better

Thats genius dude Really dope beat Could u have done it on a standard sp404 aswell?
@Nonjuror
@Nonjuror 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Most of it, would’ve had to use the sp202 to pitch the samples, probably use the 404’s vinyl sim more in place of the mk2’s 303 vs / cassette sim, then run the beat into the sp303 for vinyl sim comp. Everything thing else I think would’ve worked out similar on the sp404.

@@Nonjuror just wondering coz i want to get one too! I never had a sampler but the sp404 caught my interest. Now im thinking if its worth to get the mk2 or if the standard 404 suffices for my purpose Really have to say your beats are the shit..til now i only heard lofi from the sp404 !
@Nonjuror
@Nonjuror 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for that! On one hand the mk2 is a beast, on the other it’s probably a really good time to get a great deal on any other 404! Biggest difference is the pitch shift, mk2 pitch is awesome, other 404s it’s not too usable…but you can always pitch in a daw or other sampler if you want to.

@Nonjuror

I keep a guitar within reach to find what key they’re in. By ear can be tricky, esp when one of them isn’t in tune to start with.

I've watched this so many times, just noticed the TOOL shirt, hell yea man. Questions: Did you sample straight into the 404? Also do you think there's a viable workflow for sampling into 404 as a means to chop, clean and then send to folders on the computer? Cheers!
@Nonjuror
@Nonjuror 2 жыл бұрын
Haha been rocking that Tool Schism shirt for a long damn time… I did sample directly into the 404, does do at a kind low volume tho - my deck should have an amp after it. I enjoy chopping with it and you totally could do that, esp with drum breaks I like it. That said, if I wanna just stay on the computer I’d use Recycle - that’s my favourite thing to chop with on a computer.

@@Nonjuror was hoping they could make the reverse function like 303 + 202. That should be really easy to do and makes a huge difference for stretching out samples on the fly

Wait, I need to get my 303 out, what is it the 303 does with reverse? Coz I always use the smartmedia card on the 202 it doesn’t do reverse / time stretch n I’ve completely forgotten how it goes…one thing the mk2 loop does ping pong so it goes forward then backwards, awesome for creating drones.
