👍 You can't expect better finishing. It depends on the running accuracy of grinding spindle and its bearings , vibrations , wheel grit , dresser used etc.,. It should have minimum P4 (ABEC class7) accuracy.

You should reverse the direction of either the lathe or the spindle. At the moment they are subtracting from each other.

surface looks rough. Did you dressed the grinding wheel with a diamond first?
@machinesfromscratch11 ай бұрын
No i will have to make a jig first so i can mount the dressing diamond on the lathe i also think that that would get mi a better surface finish i also want to try out some different grinding wheels because aus the one i used is of unknown origin

great work, can you insert the links to buy the products of this project? Thank you

I cant remembre where i bought the spindel but it was just a generic dc spindel from aliexpress

Right or wrong but if the grinder runs in right turn, like when drilling, the lathe should run in reverse.

When you grind on the lathe cover your lathe ways as grinding dust is abrasive!
@machinesfromscratch11 ай бұрын
Yes i will have to make some better covers that just a towel and i also need to make some sort of vacuum system for it to get rid of the dust

Thats very posible especialy because the gringing wheel was fild up so much withe gunck so it probablie was not cutting properley

Those artifacts in the final piece look like something is not well balanced either the spindle (which is highly unlikely) or the grinding wheel. You probably have to get a larger shaft for the grinding wheel. The one you re using is good for a Dremel kind of die grinders 1/8” (3mm). Find the largest arbor you can find for your collet; should you make it yourself, turn it between centers (there is always a first time).
