Nice work `I agree with a more beefy threaded bar but looks great `I like the leather also a nice finishing touch I’m guessing good fun and satisfying to make and have a useful tool at the end,

Good morning 🌅, Very nice job, well worth the time and effort, I am in the process of making a workbench/assembly table, I am now retired living in France from the UK, I had to sell my last workbench assemble table, it would’ve been too big for where it’s going to go now, but at least I could’ve cut it down, it was approximate 1 1/2 m wide by 3 1/2 m in length, it was partly set up as a MFT table, and add the Festool aluminium track going away around the side, and it was partly used as a vacuum table as well, I am a retired specialist joiner cabinet maker, Luckily, I still have some of my tools and machinery , it is a bit crammed in the space so I’ve got to where I now live, as my workshop back in UK was 35 m in length roughly and approximately 8 m in width, I not only made fine furniture but I may especially stores and windows as well, mainly for barn conversions unusual sizes, I’ve noticed you’ve been going for a few years, and to have some nice products that you have made, all the best for the New Year, regards from France,

The automotive leather that keeps on giving…. 😂 Remind me to talk to you about a spare roll of copper sheeting that you can have if you want it.

@@montyshh I considered using the scrap stool leather but decided to save that for something better.

If two smooth guide rods are added to this it will eliminate a lot of the racking. Use 1 inch steel rods from home depot or lowes.
@catspawcustoms14 күн бұрын
@@peterputnam3804 there isn’t enough racking to necessitate that. I considered it and I have a different vise similar to this that I’ve done that on. The threaded rods are ridged enough for it to function fine. Adding more would have added very little benefit.

Looks great, PETG should have a bit of give in it compared to PLA, so should hold up ok.

Maybe a smaller gears for a narrower vice would get that stability
