Making a Two Part Mold - Prosthetic Makeup FX How to

This Mold (and Core) was created to produce a tight fitting "rubber glove" for an actor to wear, and give the illusion of a second skin on top of their real skin. The negative mold gives the surface details and skin textures of the hand, and the inner core creates an empty void in the mold that the rubber will eventually fill and produce the precise even thickness of the glove, that can then be pulled over the actors hand. This is how most glove type prosthetics are produced for film and TV productions.

very lovely! what is that white stuff you use to create the core? and do you have any tips on how to use it? I see you were putting something on it? was that vaseline? did that make it easier to work with? you also ran a hairdryer over it. Thanks!

How do you get the glove off of the core without ripping it ? The fingers are so spread out the narrow wrist won't clear them.

very cool! one question about the recesses sculptet at around 3:30 : Are those for squeeze out when doing a compression casting? i ended up injecting silicone with a huge diy catridge gun. since the mold is closed there is practically no seamline and you only have a pour spot at the bottom and tiny vents at the fingertips. And when fiberglassing i apply a soft microballoon - putty after the gelcoat. That saves some time, weight and resin, gives you shell thickness and stiffness and eliminates all creases so you can apply the mats in big pieces - especially handy if you work with woven mats. You certainly dont look like you need any advice though!
