The capelet is beautiful. And the tassels are an inspired touch. Well done. I've been wingding about whether or not to use this lovely Parisian blue velvet for my American Duchess cape. Which has put the project on the very back of the back burners since last fall. After seeing this there is now no question that I'll be using the velvet and some blue & white stripped cotton for the lining. Thank you for accidently making up my mind for me. Your hat is everything... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown {oooh - if you want to drop by and say 'hi', my Foundations Revealed Beginner entry is under my full name, Cathy MacDonald-Zytveld}

Yes! Excuse me while I immediately go and look for old velvet curtains in the attic (brown, of course) to repurpose into a stole/capelet. Also, I was thinking voodoo doll of cousin It as soon as you laid out the tassels.

I like the shape of the caplet you have created. It has a gothic style. Early in my Am Civil War civilian hobby, I created a mantle pattern from the Carl Kohler Victorian Mantle in his book. I had brown cotton velveteen similar to yours and used a golden welting all around like the description he had. I later made a matching separate hood with an over the shoulder caplet. The hood front came to a point over the forehead center. I thought I was stylin. Alas and alack, the creative fever came on recently and I actually took them apart(!)and am planning to make something else. Recycling.

Thank you very much. That is very encouraging to hear. I have looked back at my videos and I have leaned a lot. It is definitely not a skill that comes naturally and I have a long way to go, also my interest is in the sewing and step by step nature of it but the challenge is how to do that and not be dull or monotonous, and unlike me not every body wants to watch half an hour of hand sewing. Believe me I record hours of it and have to cut it down so much.
