The capelet is beautiful. And the tassels are an inspired touch. Well done. I've been wingding about whether or not to use this lovely Parisian blue velvet for my American Duchess cape. Which has put the project on the very back of the back burners since last fall. After seeing this there is now no question that I'll be using the velvet and some blue & white stripped cotton for the lining. Thank you for accidently making up my mind for me. I like the shape of the caplet you have created. It has a gothic style. Early in my Am Civil War civilian hobby, I created a mantle pattern from the Carl Kohler Victorian Mantle in his book. I had brown cotton velveteen similar to yours and used a golden welting all around like the description he had. I later made a matching separate hood with an over the shoulder caplet. The hood front came to a point over the forehead center. I thought I was stylin. Alas and alack, the creative fever came on recently and I actually took them apart(!)and am planning to make something else. Recycling.
