"The slit where you shove a ring". That's some great quality romance right there. P.S.: Great video!

Wow. I remember this from two years ago and the new version is even better. Such a beautiful project and nice to see where the Nomad shines since I’ve heard some owners online dismiss it as an “underpowered toy.” But every tool has its place. Very cool how you put your logo inside the top too.

Sad when you kill a .015 bit.. Love to see the recipes for ops, and that brass inlay/lacquer WOW, and the ringholder looks so attractive. Congrats to the couple.

Looks awesome, I came here looking how to do this type of thing and the tip about filleting the corners was exactly what I was looking for! how thin were the brass letters?

Ehm this might be a regional thing but ... Shouldn't the initial of the one 'being asked' be first on the box followed by the initial of the one doing the 'asking' ?

Didn't even cross my mind, was just using the order given to me by my friend. My brain goes on autopilot in the face of technical challenges.

Why not inlay with a 39 degree but. On the pocket cut on the side of the line and on the letters cut on the outside of line. Glue together then mill off the excess.it comes out perfect

Hey Winston, would you be willing share overall dimensions? I think it's 3/4" x 3/4" x 2" ?? Thanks!
@WinstonMakes10 ай бұрын
1.4 " tall (so top and bottom can be efficiently carved from a 3/4" thick board), 1-7/8" wide, 13/16" deep.

Hi Winston! I've been watching a ton of your videos lately trying to learn fusion 360. The one thing I haven't seen from you or anyone (Lars, NYC CNC, ect.) is tool changes? Does fusion 360 automatically pause between operations so you can change bits? Or do you have to program something in? If you've explained it and I missed it, my apologies! I just figured this was a good starting point to get to the bottom of this. Keep up the great work!!
@WinstonMakes5 жыл бұрын
I've mostly glossed over it. Fusion inserts an "M6" command when a tool change is required. The nomad since it has a tool length probe, can receive a new tool, probe it, compensate automatically for the change in Z-height, and continue cutting. It will pause and prompt you for a tool when it sees M6. The shapeoko will pause, but because it doesn't have a way to measure the tool, it will simply resume execution if you load a new tool and hit continue (likely crashing the endmill). You need to export toolpaths grouped by tool manually so you can re-zero between them after changing a tool.

@@WinstonMakeswow thank you! That sounds doable! I'll let you know what my broken end mill count is sometime in the future while I become more proficient haha

Winston Moy, is it possible to make Brass Inlay Initials with Shapeoko 3?
@WinstonMakes5 жыл бұрын
Sure... if you're don't need extremely fine details that require you to use endmills much smaller than 1/32".
