Drafting on a mannequin is one way of creating a pattern/garment. Flat drafting is an option when a mannequin is not available and should start with a sloper fitted to the client. Oh to afford a mannequin... 😀

I think that making a wedding dress is the way better than buy it, because it's mor cheapper and you can also make it like you want. This is really beauty, you're so talented!

It's usually not cheaper 😋 the prices of fabrics are high. The reason to do it isn't cost but customization and design choice. 😉 I made my sister's wedding dress. Took 45 hours not including 2 friends who helped with handsewn details. Fabric and supplies cost $500-$600. If I was paid $20 an hour it would cost at least $900 labor, not including overhead for sewing machine server etc. This is why custom stuff is expensive.

Wood burners also work well for this application if the fabrics are synthetic. Cuts and seals edges really well.

Actually, it is a dremel like tool used to burn electrical wires together. It can also be used to burn through metal and plastic... and apparently fabric!!
