Great video, will be attempting for my baby shower in April. I see you used 1/2 inch, do you think i could get away with 1/4 inch?
@Thehippieapprentice9 ай бұрын
Yes, but I haven't built one yet. Its on the list this year. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3rXfWCsm9CohLs Same guy from the link in the end of my video. He uses 1/4 inch and add 1x2, 1x3, or 1x4 to give support and he makes a really great point about the heaviness of thicker plywood. The 1/2 is sturdy and durable but HEAVY. If your using a jigsaw id imagine you would have to buy a fine finish blade with the thinner plywood in order to avoid a lot of splintering but even so nothing wood filler cant fix. I've even seen some IG reels of people using www.homedepot.com/p/Owens-Corning-FOAMULAR-1-2-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-R-3-Square-Edge-Rigid-Foam-Board-Insulation-Sheathing-36L/100320356 (insulation foam) Seems like the best way to cut this is some sort of hot wire foam cutter. But again I haven't try it...yet. Hope this helps! Good luck and congratulations! Any more questions ask away!

How long was the copper wire you used
@Thehippieapprentice5 ай бұрын
It was 2ft. What ever width you want, divide that by 2.
@MrBiiG905 ай бұрын
So if u want a 6 foot wide back drop u use a 3 foot wire
@Thehippieapprentice4 ай бұрын
@@MrBiiG90 Yes. But Plywood sheets are 4 feet by 8ft. You would need to split that wide of an arch between 2 sheets. I'm thinking side by side and loose a foot on each plywood. Any more questions more than happy to help.
@shellynodel97893 ай бұрын
What was the width of the 8ft and the 6/ft arch?
@Thehippieapprentice3 ай бұрын
All three of the arches have the same width. I used the full 4Ft width of the plywood sheet.
@purplerain9629 Жыл бұрын
Great job on your video. You did an awesome job building those arches. Keep up the good work. How long did it take you to do all 3 and how many sheets of plywood did it take for you to make them?
@Thehippieapprentice Жыл бұрын
:D Thank you very much!!! I'm glad you liked it! This took 8 days... sort of. Half day Friday and Saturday. Mon-Thurs about an hour or so, then half day Friday and finished Saturday. I finished the 3 arches on the first Friday. "Designing", building, and fixing the stands is what took me forever. I used a total of 3.5 plywood sheets; one for each arch then half for the 6ft stand. I used half inch plywood its sturdy but HEAVY. The client actually asked me to make them a bit shorter to make it easier to manage. The channel "Maker Decor" uses quarter inch and then adds supports to make it sturdy. Light and sturdy!? I will attempt this on the next backdrop and will post.

What did u do to make the legs for it to stand on
@Thehippieapprentice4 ай бұрын
For the smaller two I used left over plywood. Simple triangle shape. For the bigger one I used 1x4s and also did a simple triangle shape. Added a brace to the back of the plywood sheet so the screws had something more to bit into than just the plywood sheet. Attached with door hinges I bought from HomeDepot.

What size/width wood and kind did you use?
@Thehippieapprentice Жыл бұрын
I used : 1/2 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. Birch Plywood. I added a link in the description. Used the full 4Ft width of the board and the heights are 8ft, 6.5ft, 5ft. They came out heaver than I expected. If I could do it over I would have cut the width down to 3.5ft or 3 so it'd be lighter and easier to handle. Home Depot. offers less expensive ones but they are not as clean and smooth as this one, I would've put a lot more work and time into them to get this nice clean result. Thanks for watching!

Are you asking if you could buy a backdrop from me? Unfortunately this is more of a hobby at the moment, I do this on spare time and seem to have less and less time. Also, I'm not sure how I would even mail this? 🤷♂️
