So fucking cool man. Really. People don’t think how amazing it was that they built things like this back then. The ingenuity of the past is truly amazing.

That was really really interesting to watch. I was surprised that you don't need any glue between the upright pieces of wood but I suppose that the water will make the wood swell up and seal any small cracks. I've just realised you could now milk your own cow as you've made a stool and a bucket 😆👏👏👏

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. kzbin.infoUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

I love all the beautiful things you make out of wood that would otherwise end up being burnt or in landfill! You're so talented; a true craftsman which is rare nowadays. If the unused bits aren't treated with any chemicals, you can compost them as well as the wood shavings. :)

Nice project with just one small observation. The two ears for the handle could have been welded to the top ring. Would save on the hardware - four sets of bolts and nuts, not that it costs a great deal. The pressure from gravity of lifting the bucket would ensure the ring always keeps the seal of the wooden slats intact.
@LucasGranberg6 жыл бұрын
Some wooden buckets also have longer pieces on two sides. These can be drilled to fit a rope.
@PaskMakes6 жыл бұрын
Yes that would've been a better option. I would've had to dry fit the top ring and remove it to know how long to make the bracket. Not that there would be a problem doing that. If I make another I'll definitely be doing that! This time I was racing to get it done and this seemed like the easiest way at the time! :)
@MikeFaneros6 жыл бұрын
Alternatively you could weld over-sized brackets to the top, put the ring in place, then cut the brackets down to size. That might make it difficult to put the ring on though. I like the project! Now I just need to find my own supply of scrap wood....
@MarkMcCluney6 жыл бұрын

When u get the bucket together in trial hoops you can roll it on its side on the ground the curved pattern on the ground is now the pattern to hammer your final hoops to. That way it fits the sides perfect. Just hammer the hoops till it matches the pattern in the sand

Dear Neil, you used some brown stuff to seal the bottom to the sides joint, what was that? You didn’t glue the sides and the bucket doesn’t leak. That’s pretty clever. Is that the pressure of the steel rings holding the edges tightly together? Beautiful build. I bet this bucket will outlast any cheap plastic one from the shop. Cheers.

man this is FANTASTIC! great job with the jigs and everything! I was sruprised that you attached the handles supports to the wood instead of one of the rings (you know, as it holds weight the ring wedges itself into the wooden cone), but I'm sure that's not neededd and it works great. nice job on the jigs too!
@PaskMakes6 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Carlos! Yes that would've been a better option. It would need a dry fit of the top ring to know how long to make the brackets but that's easy enough to remove. I think I did it this way as it seemed the easiest and time was getting on! :)
