Mary maybe a reason why it took so long to get your stiff peaks on the egg whites is because maybe there was a little bit of yolk in them or the actual bowl had some grease in it. Some people rub the bowl with lemon juice prior to whisking the egg whites to make sure there is no grease in the bowl. This is no criticism of your baking just a thought for next time.

This was one of my favourite baking videos you’ve done so far! So funny, so charming. Love it! I think the egg whites didn’t whip up because of that yolk that got in there. Even the smallest bit will mess it up. It’s happened to me before. I’ve learned to separate my eggs one-by-one in a separate container before adding to my main bowl in case of an accident. But you do you. I know it’s tedious. Love your videos, Mary. Keep it up!

When you separated the eggs you got some of the yellow in with the whites and you said you were going to get that out. If you did not get that out, then that explains why you did not get full stiff peaks from your egg whites. The yellow part of the egg is the fats and when there is any fat added to the egg whites there is no way that it can become its stiffest. So that may be the reason. That being said, you have inspired me and now I am going to have to make a cake lol

Mary I love your videos! They are how I sleep every night. Just so you know, the only reason you didn't get totally stiff peaks is because there was some yolk in your egg whites🥰 it can also happen if your bowl has grease on it- running some lemon juice or vinegar around the bowl and utensils is a great way to prevent this! but it clearly doesn't matter too much because your cake looks fantastic ❤

Good early AM morning my dear Mary!!! I’ve learned with box cake mixes that use milk instead of water and I mix the batter up quite a bit more and the cake or cupcakes whichever you’re making turns out so much more moister!!! As icing a cake , I was a lead cake decorator the almost 40 years I worked with Kroger!!!! Lol Yes I’m older than you are!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe and other ideas!! Love, love, love your video as usual. You always make me laugh as well as relaxing me. My mom used to always say you have to whip egg whites only in a glass bowl, not plastic. Maybe thats why they gave you some trouble. Not sure, but a thought. I gave up on baking from scratch years ago. I only use box cake mixes! So I'm not criticzing! Way to go Mary!

The reason your eggs weren’t cooperating is because you had gotten yolk into them. The far prevents the whites from whipping nicely. I love your videos! ❤

Yankee candle do a vanilla cupcake candle which smells super good! You should deffo get one or go to one of the stores and have a smell of some of the cake and cookie scents. It's lush!
