Making an arts and crafts letter box I spotted on the antiques road trip. Bought by Tim Medhurst. Purchased for £140 and sold for a whopping £2200 at auction.

That came out great. "I made because I liked it." I can't think of a better reason, thanks.

Glad you liked it! I have a habit of looking through antique books, finding stuff I like then making it.

Absolutely stunning piece! Love the attention to details. The carving is beautiful, the dovetails are a nice touch and the hinges set it all off just right. I like the logic and simplicity of your mouldings for the glass too. Great balance between true craftsmanship and human error. Educational and entertaining video. Well done Sir. Liked and Suscribed.

@Ian Swindell so far, so good. The only thing that crossed my mind was after you finish some of the pieces, it would be nice to see them installed in their clock or wherever they will be used. Otherwise, all good. You are in Great Britain?

@@davidwilliams1383 I usually need to post the video before the thing is finished. Uploading a video once a week is hard enough unfortunately . Yes I am in GB.

@Ian Swindell I can imagine it's a lot of work getting a project videod and then all of the editing. I worked in the Manchester area back in the 90s.

@@davidwilliams1383 I’m not far from Manchester. I have two clocks in at the moment one made in Manchester and the other in Wigan. I get quite a lot of local clocks for restoration.

Is it possible to make a workshop video? I'm very interested thank you!!!

I have thought about it but my workshop is so small and rammed with stuff its hard enough to tidy up a small area just to do a it of recording. If I get the chance I will try and do something along though's lines.

If you don't mind, what kind of carving vise are you using?

I use an old PowRlock Hydraclamp I bought on eBay. It’s very good but I would like a hydraulic one. They do turn up from time to time if you’re looking for one.
