LOL, you experienced sewing the way I sew! It usually takes me an entire day to cut a pattern because I freaking reward myself with a break or another task after every slightly difficult cut. Shoot, who am I kidding, I do the same thing with the construction as well. For what it's worth, I've found my unnaturally frequent sewing breaks end up giving me a much cleaner/high quality garment in the end because I get hyperfocused on each individual step. And the reason I watch your channel is because you're absolutely hysterical but you also actually still show your prep and sewing in detail!

its a mixed bag for me, sometimes I can crank out an entire costume/ dress overnight and other times it takes me 6 months just to print the pattern off of the internet 😂 im glad you like my videos! I enjoy sharing my process, even if it is just chaos and voice overs 😅

Well I come here because I enjoy your humor and commentary, something I really lack which is why I don't often record my sewing processes because I'd be incredibly boring to watch! Seeing the times where you fail and improvise makes me feel a lot better knowing that creation is never perfect even after many attempts, and that it is okay :D
@AlexandriaLayne
@AlexandriaLayne Жыл бұрын
I actively try to incorporate my mistakes and failures into my videos because otherwise I would only have like 10 seconds of usable footage 😂 plus I like the human aspect of creating stuff, improvising my next step is like second nature to me now 😂

One of the reasons I make videos is because my sister and I used to live together and we would craft every day! But now that we don’t live in the same house I wanted her to still feel like we are crafting together and so I make videos like I’m talking to her so she can “craft with me” 😂😅

from the things you showed in the video, you can make an awl! using the Riobye sander and worn out phillips screwdriver of the correct size, brace the sander the same way you had it in the video and simply sand the end of the screwdriver to a point. That's your awl. Make sure it is ok for the owener of the screwdriver because this will ruin it as a screwdriver. Hope this helps!

@@AlexandriaLayne Yeah, it will be my second successful one when it’s finished. I am working on the bottom half of it at the moment. The first dress is on my Etsy and is shown on my instagram. But the dress I am working on now I only have a picture of the top half of it on my instagram at the moment. There are some really stunning crocheted dresses that people have made. I like both the sewing and crocheting types though and I really hope I get as good as you with my sewing skills! Your work is beautiful! Keep up the good work! (I do apologize for rambling, I enjoy typing and writing so I ramble easily🫢)

On the grommets, if you interface the back strip you wont need to use the glue. The interfacing will make the fabric strong.
@AlexandriaLayne
@AlexandriaLayne Жыл бұрын
I have used interfacing before, and it does work really well, but I prefer putting e6000 glue in-between the fabric and grommet, the glue is super super strong, and whereas the top layer of fabric is a stretch velvet, I wanted the grommets to be as secure as possible. Plus it’s what I have available in my supplies and I try to be as thrifty as possible with my materials 😂😅

"What are you even doing right now?" I am currently using fabric paint to paint an eyeball on a bird purse instead of hand-sewing fabric pieces on the face. So. I'm doing shortcuts that turn out well while watching someone take shortcuts that will turn out well. Close enough is good enough in my opinion! :)

@AlexandriaLayne Unsure if you'll see this (no worries if you don't), but I am making a purse of Flapjack from The Owl House, and the fabric paint worked out so well!! Nice and vibrant without falling to pieces lol (today, I'm venturing into the very tough world of paper mache jewelry for a different cosplay......)

It turned out really pretty, especially how you replicated the sparkles with rhinestones. Gives me a better understanding of how to make a bodice too honestly.

thanks! it turned out better than I thought it would, placing the rhinestones and getting them all in the right spot is tricky, but im happy with how it looks!

Love the design of the bedazzling on the dress. It’s flowy and IMO looks better and classier than the original. I don’t sew or do any crafts frankly. I watch the videos because I enjoy your commentary. You give a honest window into your process and how your thinking shifts through the project, rather than trying to “impress” the audience and it’s just so nice to see. Thanks, and hope you keep going!
@AlexandriaLayne

That is extremely nice of you to say 😭 thank you! It’s not easy putting my entire process, mistakes included, in the internet. Everyone has an opinion and oftentimes it feels like everyone wants to tell me how I should do things differently. while I appreciate many of the suggestions, the dress is done, there is no going back, and I’m already on to the next design 😂👍🏼

oh ye, im here (from 14:37) to say that i am here because i followed you on instagram a while ago when you started your elsa dress. im moving back home this weekend and mum says i have full range to her sewing room. i forget how much i love sewing and crafting til i see it actually being done. i really want to get back into it. also i love how your videos are more talking to a friend rather than being so instructional. youre so open with your thought process, and its not just "my original idea was perfect and thats how it will stay" like you talk it through, you talk problems through, its refreshing :)

Positive thinking is the way to go!!! Poop glitter got me girl 😵🤣 No really sometime when I feel stressed or overwhelmed I stop and do something else and it helps a lot! Taking breaks makes me less stress. Also I am here because your videos are slaying!!! 👏🏼 keep them coming and I think it more we can all relate to how you make your designs, it’s chaos, just go with the flow and wing it. Haha Haha the slow mo girl sometimes it’s just how it is and it comes out damn good!! Haha
