For sand FX at that scale you might want to consider baking soda sprinkled over glue.
@sirrathersplendid4825Ай бұрын
Yep. You can use baking soda + pva glue as a filler.

@@sirrathersplendid4825 you can also get some really nice effects by dumping it on gel super glue, the way it makes the gelCA shrink up can have a nice wind swept ripple to it.

Looks great! I like the idea that historical accuracy isn't as important as what it evokes in the players, especially at such a small scale.

Excellent project, I like these MDF kits myself as they are quick and cheap and you can do as much or as little to them as you please. Couple of suggestions: add a line of ridge tiles along the top of the roof where the two sides meet. A piece of bent card folded over the peak works (cut it into small tile-size sections). Secondly, don't always be concerned about making stuff appear random. Nature (particularly where it meets man-made) isn't always 'random' The weathering on the roof for example would probably all follow the line of the tiles. My (real) roof has a problem with moss, it doesn't grow randomly, it all grows in nice, regular, patterns following the lower edge of each roof tile.

Thank you! I love how you found inspiration/info in the moss problem on your actual roof.

About the problem of losing the burned-in details with the texture paste. You could, if you want to put in the extra effort, glue 2mm x 1mm strips of balsawood to them befor applying the paste. That's what i did with my sarissa japanese buildings. To me it is well worth the effort. Really anything to reduce the flatness of MDF.

Very cool technique! I have one of these kits waiting to be put together still, so I'll give it a shot!

Probably works almost as well if you apply it AFTER the filler. Instead of balsa wood - which is expensive these days - I would try simple cereal box card.

Woah!! It isn't a Tudor style house or gray stone castle!? Is that allowed in TTRPGs? Looks great!

We're showing wild disregard for the Hobby KZbin rules! Ha, thanks Tommy.
