I'm new to Monotype, Tom and I find your videos absorbing and inspiring - and by the way: I like the fact that you do not over-do the commentary - actions always speak louder than words.😁

Then I will keep this short and sweet. Thank you and keep making monotypes. 😀

Tom, Do you dampen the paper? Nice work. Like the way you developed a center of interestt and then a bit of red for a secondary place for the eye.
@batswbennett Жыл бұрын
Yes, the paper must be dampened. Thank you. Watch some of my other videos, specifically the monotype Tutorial from 4/16/20

This Is so precious! I didn't know about monotypes, its so misterious!! I wonder if its posible to make It with oil and turpentine but printed by hand, i know turpentine makes the oil dry faster so maybe the transfer would not be well if its not with the machine printer you have. What Is the diferente you find of using ink for engraving or oil? I apologize if you dont understand me, i only speak spanish. Thank you for shearing your art procesos.

hello, amazing print! What can we do if we dont have a press?
@batswbennett Жыл бұрын
Lay your printmaking paper gently onto the plate, centered so you'll have an even margin of white space around the monotype. Lay one hand on the paper to hold it firmly in place on the plate, and with the other hand, begin rubbing the back of the paper with a spoon, or baren or some other pressure-inducing item. Practice! Good luck.

I’d really like a list of things used . Is it only one print that you would get?
@batswbennett Жыл бұрын
I'll make a video with specific materials used. I make one pint, but a "ghost" is what is left on the plate, that can be then manipulated with more medium to make a further print.

Is this thinner??
@batswbennett3 жыл бұрын
Turpentine. Thinner can be used but it depends on the type; it acts differently with the inks.

Must you use etching ink? Anything else ?
@batswbennett Жыл бұрын
I use oil based inks and oil paint, almost exclusively currently, to achieve the results here; you can experiment with whatever mediums you choose, of course.
